I know competitive tiredness is not a good thing, but surely I am entitled to be the MOST tired........

DH cheerily announced this morning on his way out the door 'I'm going to sleep in the spare room tonight, I'm really tired and need to catch up on some sleep'
He has stayed up late (till about 3am) messing about on his computer, listenin to music etc for the last 2 or 3 nights and hence thats why he is tired...

I, on the other hand, am tired due to having a chest infection and getting up in the night several times with the children!

To be fair to DH, he suggests I sleep in the spare room a night or two a week to catch up usually (baby never sleeps) and does try and let me sleep in at the weekend.

I called him earlier today and told him I'd been to the docs and the reason I have been feeling so crap is because i've got a chest infection. He said 'oh no, poor you. I expect thats what i've got too. i feel mildly ill and tired. oh and by the way i'll probably be late home tonight byeeee'
He does not have a chest infection. He is tired through staying up too late!!!

I probably am totally unreasonable (I blame being ill!) but it infuriates me when he complains about being tired when I NEVER seem to get enough sleep through no choice of my own GRRRR

I am the most tired

I am tempted to say lock him out.

deanychip · 08/01/2009 20:22

competition is healthy!

WE know that you are more tired than him, WE know just how tired you are, BUT i can beat you hands down with the tired stakes......

lardybump · 08/01/2009 20:24

Put the baby in the spare room with him....

Hmmm... very familiar.

He's weary, you're tired, I'm exhausted.

Tis all competitive. Ditto illness.

2k9kids · 08/01/2009 20:26

oh no no no deany, I can assure you I am more tired than you....

He's home and upstairs getting changed. He will definitely not be sleeping in the spare room tonight. If anyone does it will be me and if he has to go to bed in 20 mins time to be able to deal with a sleepless night with the baby then so be it

Well, you must know by now that you can never win against a case of man-flu.

fizzbuzz · 08/01/2009 20:36

Tiredness due to staying up late deserves no sympathy at all. He made the choice, and can live with consequences.

That's the rule in our house

LaTrucha · 08/01/2009 20:47

Staying up late when you have a baby is pure, reckless foolishness.

I am prepared to concede you might be tireder than me ... for this one night...

mayorquimby · 08/01/2009 20:52

he sounds knackered.leave him be

lizziemun · 08/01/2009 20:56

Can he not deal with your dc untill he goes to bed.

DH is a night owl, but he would fed dd's when they woke during the night, and i did/do the 6am starts.
