Sorry but i just need to vent. I am pregnant and a week overdue. I am getting really pissed off at all the phone calls with people asking if i have had "any twinges" or if i have had the baby yet

I know these people mean well but do they really think that they won't be either phoned or text by myself or dp when the baby is born?

I can't not answer the phone in case it's the phone call i am expecting from the midwife plus mil/pil go into panic mode if i don't answer and think i have gone into labour.

I have been trying to do some work on the computer this morning and for some reason everytime the phone rings, i lose my internet connection and spend 10 minutes trying to connect it again

Sorry i must sound like a grumpy old hag but people are just really annoying me.

I have to resurrect this thread before I deck someone. Particularly people who have actually shown no interest in me or my pregnancy for the last 9 months and now keep texting me. Is it rude just not to reply? Especially when the text just says 'baby yet?'

Even DP said 'no baby yet then' on first waking this morning (and then wished he hadn't, I tell you).

I went 6 days overdue and don't think I had any calls like that, just be glad that you have some friends?!

PinkTulips · 01/02/2009 16:38

i didn't bring dd to playschool for 3 days this week as i was actually afraid i'd punch the next person to ask me 'so do you think you'll have the baby soon/ are you having twinges/ are you still with us, thought you'd have had it by now'

i'm not fecking due til next wednesday ffs!!!!

mylifemykids · 01/02/2009 16:47

YANBU! Luckily DS was born on his due date and DD was one day early....but that still didn't stop them phoning/texting the week or so beforehand.

After I had DS the midwife said, if we had anymore, she'd advise to lie about your due date! Make it a couple of weeks after your actual due date and people wont even realise you're late if you go over!

Sorry that's not much help now and I hope you give birth immediately!

YANBU - I am deliberately not texting a friend of mine to find out if she's had the baby (she's a week overdue) because I know how bloody annoying it is to be asked the same question over and over again.

"Have you not had that baby yet?" Temptation to say "oh, I have, I just liked the look so much I asked them to build me a prosthetic bump whilst in hospital, I'll look this way forever" must be immense!

I can imagine how annoying this must be. Thankfully my family didn't do this to me, as I went 40+17 with DS. The extreme wait was enough without people asking all the time. Can see that they're excited, but as you say you're hardly going to have the baby and not tell anyone are you??

Good luck by the way!!
