and are so involved that all common courtesy to others goes completely out of the window????

ok, so I've pinched the title from the other thread and this has nothing to do with that OP (who I'm sure is NBU )

but it reminded me...

Took the ds's to the Imperial War museum in London for a final holiday treat yesterday. Now the cafe there is lovely but it is cramped and they don't have buggy parking but still...

we're in a small room trying to eat our lunch and a group of newish mums come in,
of course that's fine, but instead of folding the buggies before coming in, they try and push them through the tables, bashing people on the way (ds2)
the mum next to ds2 then starts folding the buggy, carries on jogging and bashing into ds2 who's still trying to eat,
then clonks him with the buggy handle, not a look, or an apology,
then sits down to eat and puts crying baby over her shoulder, straight into ds2 face, who then gives up eating his lunch.

Now don't get me wrong, I know it's hard with an 8 or 9 month old, but these mums were totally oblivious to anyone else around them

I was gobsmacked to say the least.. I didn't say anything, but it ruined our lunch.
As I said ,...I know it's hard, I've been there, but a smile or apology would have worked wonders, after all, it's not our fault the cafe is tiny and we too are entitled to a pleasant lunch.
So AIBU???

no, YANBU. New babies are all consuming, and when you have one, especially your first, you tend to forget that not everybody is as baby-focused as you are.

When my babies were tiny I used to hate toddlers. When they were toddlers I went everywhere before 3pm to avoid schoolchildren. Now there's no escape...

babies, no babies

toddlers, no toddlers

aged old mean-spirited grannies, or not

some people are just challenged in the manners dept, simple as that

I did wonder AFFAMP, but I'm sure it was PFB en masse.
The 6 of them looked v. nice and I'm sure 1 or 2 were probably mnetters,...
but they were just totally utterly absorbed in making sure there babies were ok..
it was a pfb bubble

you're right mummyp, but they put the babies in high chairs and there was 6 women together, so 1 or 2 could have watched the dc's for a mo...

I am sure the 8/9 month olds really enjoyed the Imperial War Museum
