To be really sad that Christmas is over

I had a great christmas this year, its been so lovely to have DP at home for just over two weeks, we are all relaxed and familyfied.
Christmas was bloody hard work and i was beyond knackered (big family get together) but it was great, and the whole feeling of the holiday was just lovely - what we really needed.

Now DP goes back to work on Monday and i can tell he is already stressing. I just wish we could extend the holiday period a while longer.

Saying that, i will be quite happy to get DD back into some sort of routine and off the endless supply of chocolate/ice cream/anything she bloody well wants diet that daddy allows

i am so looking forward to spring nice crocuses

southeastastra · 03/01/2009 21:47

actually i don't think that's the right spelling for a crocus at all

AnneOfAvonlea · 03/01/2009 21:49

I know exactly how you feel.

DippyDino · 03/01/2009 21:49

YABU! The short-lived nature of the festive season enhances it's specialness!

But YANBU! We really enjoyed ourselves too, we have a 2.5 year old dd who was wide eyed with wonder and so grateful for everything! So sad it's over.

Gosh it's comfy on this fence.

RipVanTwinkle · 03/01/2009 21:50

I am sad too. It's been very hard work but really lovely. I'm back at work on Monday.

LadyOfWaffle · 03/01/2009 21:51

I am looking forward to spring too much, as much as the end of the Christmas period makes abit 'sad', it's far outweighed by spring coming! I had my decs down on the 1st, as if it's going to hurry the daffodils along! I love crocus' (that's my plural spelling!), March 1st is a real turning point for me, I am counting the days!

LadyOfWaffle · 03/01/2009 21:52

DH was working most of Christmas and I was ill, I didn't even watch 1 film and only a few programmes on TV, there wasn't much to 'miss' this year I have to say.

AuntieMaggie · 03/01/2009 21:53

Me too

DP has worked the odd day but I've had the 2 weeks off and felt like it has flown by far too quickly - especially as I've been too ill to do all the stuff I wanted to with my time off.

Ho hum... back to work on Monday... the first thing I'm gonna do is book another week off!

onthepier · 03/01/2009 22:22

We've all had a lovely Christmas too, and dh + children are back at school/work on Tuesday.

Tuesday is my one day off in the week and although I'm sad it's all over, I'm looking forward to getting the house straight again on Tuesday and putting on the cd's/dvd's I got for Christmas and enjoying them uninterrupted by the football, kids' tv and the nintendo wii, (much as I like it!)

prettybutterfly · 03/01/2009 22:45

There are 12 days of Christmas and it aint over yet!

Continue making a fuss until the decs come down. I am.

Mind you, we don't get cracking on Christmas until advent is over.

MrsSeanBean · 03/01/2009 22:48

It is rather a sad feeling and anti-climax when it is all over and everything is grey and normal again... but it will be here again before you know it! It's all the more special 'cos it's only once a year!

LucyEllensmummy · 04/01/2009 10:36

Yes, that is true, i love it when the daffs show their faces I think the plural is Croci??? Nah, that can't be right.

I am looking forward to getting my house straight too - but then i also have to crack on with DPs accounts (as usual have left to very last minute - arrrrggggghhh).

I think i am going to have to set myself some "projects".

The only reason I'll be sad to see the back of the festive season is because DH is back at work on Tues. I've worked pretty much all through and we've spent endless amounts of time entertaining people and cleaning up after their visits, so those things I will not miss!

Dh has been off since Dec 18th (using his annual leave) and has been so much more relaxed.
