To sell some of DS's christmas presents?

So far my 9 year old has told me he doesn't like one of the DVD's I bought him, doesn't like a DS game I bought him and has played on a wii game I bought him once before saying "its alright, but the controls are too awkward".
I'm so pissed off because I really skinted myself to get the kids presents this year. I stayed away from plastic toys which I've learnt they don't bother with them and instead I bought console games and dvds.
I'm thinking of selling the ones that they "don't like" or don't bother with and not giving ds the money either. I'm annoyed that he's being so ungrateful. Instead I feel like putting the money on the credit card.

Nope I would too

Sounds very ungrateful , either put them away until he decides he's ready for them or sell them and remember for next year.

purepurple · 02/01/2009 10:56

no but maybe it would be better to let children choose their own presents then we wouldn't get this response every year speaking from experience here

I would too, whats the point in having a big credit card bill, if you have expensive items sat there not being used?

Can any of them be taken back to shops for a full refund?

Pignata · 02/01/2009 11:04

No because they have been opened. I'll get good prices on ebay though I think.

Also, he has £80 in christmas money. I took him shopping on wednesday and he didn't spend a penny. I asked why and he said "I got everything I wanted for christmas, there is nothing else I need". So it seems pointless giving him more money really.

If you desperately need the money then sell them. But I think I'd be half-tempted to keep them and see if he comes to like them in time. I know that I often find the controls on the Wii awkward when I first try a new game but patience & persistence pays off.

However, I would, be incredibly pissed off at how ungrateful he is coming across... and for that reason I think I would sell the stuff and keep the money for myself/the credit card.

Sorry, I disagree. You can't give someone a present and then take it back because they are not grateful enough. You just can't.

Could there be any other reason why your DS is acting out? Is he normally like this?
