We've coped for years without Edit, Quote & IM...leave it alone!

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 02/01/2009 12:43

I agree that we don't need them!

Edit - too confusing. If you notice a typo then just re-post with the typo corrected.
Quote - what's wrong with copy & paste?
IM - CAT? Or use other IM services.

I like MN as it is.

How about some sort of disclaimer option for potentially 'sensitive' posts?

I sometimes feel like I need a disclaimer at the bottom of posts to say that 'although I happen to have an opinion, my intention is not to offend, discriminate, be a snob or narrow-minded, and my post not be deemed as such etc / blah blah blah..' (I could go on) - you know, a bit like the small print that you get at the end of company emails.

It can get wearysome (sp?), constantly having to think of all and whoever you could possibly offend by any innocently intended off the cuff remark and having to backtrack and type copious explanations. For the sake of conciseness I tend to try to avoid making posts of 'war and peace' proportions. This can mean that you sometimes omit things (which you would hope are taken for granted) - which are obvious to you, but not to anyone else who reads them and doesn't know you.

Too late Mrs SB! I'm offended!

Edit wouldn't be practical... especially on fast moving threads.

How about when you hit Post Message, a warning came up to say "Post message - Are you sure y/n". So you can change your mind if you spot a typo or realised you accidentally called Pagwitch a brainless moron.
When you meant to call her bloody brilliant

Another website I use tells you if the thread has had new posts since you began writing so you can check to see if your post fits in with the new comments. Useful for when an OP changes their mind...?
