to not know how to turn the iron on?

A friend of mine who has a DS aged 2yrs and a DD aged 6 weeks is finally coming to the point of view that ironing her children's bed sheets and baby gros etc is not necessary.

Is it just me or is it nuts to iron baby stuff? Or any stuff unless your life depends on it?

My two DCs have never had a single item of clothing ironed and never will.

Am I being unreasonable??

I never, ever iron. Ever. It is the most pointless thing in the world. DP does his shirts for work but that is it. What a waste of time.

YANBU. Never was there a more pointless, tedious, joy-sucking task than ironing. I give clothes a good shake when damp, then hang on hangers - dry them outside in a breeze if poss. You'd never know the difference with most things.

People who iron towels, bedding and underwear must enjoy it for its own sake- I have a friend that does this - well that's fine, I make my own jam which is equally pointless but at least I admit that it's a hobby and don't pretend it's necessary.

We moved house a year past June and I haven't ironed anything in that time. I don't even know if the iron survived the move!!

My DH irons his own shirts, I tried to iron a tablecloth for Xmas and failed. I think it was the first time I had tried to iron anything in about 4 years. I predict it will be another 4 years before I try again. DS will be taught how to iron as soon as it's feasible and if he wants ironed shirts for school he will have to do them himself.

DH has "non-iron" shirts from M&S... they were starting to look a bit ropey (coming up to 3 years old) so as soon as I heard that M&S will now ship to Australia, I ordered him another 10. Job done

My kids have never seen me iron and they are 8 and 12

I hate ironing but also hate creased clothes it's a nightmare.I only iron in very small batches hated doing my new jeans which took forever this morning after I over dried them.
Most my girls stuff doesn't need ironing if tumble dried just jeans and school uniforms really. The worst thing to iron imo is cordrouy(sp)?
