To be slightly miffed that DP has gone back to bed.

And its not like we did anything other than watch Jimmy Carr and his big fat quiz last night

OK, so i had a lie in, i generally have one if he is around - i think that is fair as i do ALL the housework lately (defo needs adressing). Anyway, normally i don't mind that because i get the lie in (which was only til 8!) he goes back up to bed for a couple of hours. But I just feel that he doesn't REALLY need the lie in this morning - its like he is doing it, just because he is "entitled" and he is not really tired. I feel that he will waste the morning and consequently the day.

More importantly - I'M BORED!!!

So, as an aside, what ARE we going to do with the day - i always find NYD such a non-day, perhaps me and DD should go and join him?

I will of course let him sleep - but im getting a bed head now, waiting around to do stuff.

why do you have to wait for DH to do stuff?
How old is dd?

SparklyBaubleFeast · 01/01/2009 10:05

me took - bored - woke up at 7.30!
no one else is awake, nor likely to wake up for some time
i should enjoy the peace

LucyEllensmummy · 01/01/2009 10:11

I don't have to wait for him to do stuff, but he is on holiday and otherwise he works six days a week, long hours so i have to find things to do for myself for the rest of the year!

And i obviously have a lack of imagination, if i could go up and say "hey, lets do xyz" he would be up and we can do stuff, but i can't think of anything...

Swimming - too cold
Soft play - rather boil my head and its closed anyway
Shops - again, boil my head
Paint the living room - i did suggest this but this was met with "there will be paint everywhere" (so going to do this next week, as a "surprise")
Went for walk in woods yesterday -DD whined the whole time (she is three by the way)

are any shops open today?

kslatts · 01/01/2009 10:39

I'm the only one up, but I guess the difference is that my dd's are still in bed. I'm going to have some breakfast, have a shower and take the dog over the park.

My dh is always up after me when he is not working, I just can't lie-in, I get up early for work during the week and get up at a similar time on day's off, once I'm awake I have to get straight up. It doesn't other me that dh lies in.

As it's xmas holidays our dd's haven't been going to bed until late and last night didn't go to bed until 2am so I'm not expecting to see them until lunchtime.

Flier · 01/01/2009 10:44

lunchtime? bliss! mone had a lie in, ds was up sometime between 6 and 9 and dd was shouting for me at 9.

LucyEllensmummy · 01/01/2009 10:44

kslatts. That is the difference isn;t it - I am having to entertain a bored three year old who keeps asking for daddy and im having to lie and say he is at work

SparklyBaubleFeast · 01/01/2009 10:46

i can see it woudl be very tempting to let your 3 year old mistakenly play trampolines on her daddy's bed

oxocube · 01/01/2009 10:49

Mine hasn't got up at all yet and 11.45 here! I, on the other hand, was up at 8.30, changed the water in the fish tank, put a load of washing in, tidied the kitchen and took the dog to the woods. The plus point is that dc3 (7) has just emerged and is being v undemanding while I sit at computer and the older 2 kids are also still in bed. So apart from the irritation of Cartoon Network, all is quiet and calm in the Oxo household

Agree its a nothing day though - v dull.

oxocube · 01/01/2009 10:50

Oh, dh has just emerged

SparklyBaubleFeast · 01/01/2009 10:52

oh, i thought i read somewhere about not doing washign on new years day, otherwise that is how you will spend your whole year!!
obviously some ridiculous old wives tale.
but i am sticking with it,
for now anyway

the kitchen is an absolute tip, so i only hope that is not how my whole year is going to be!!

LucyEllensmummy · 01/01/2009 11:04

Sparkly, the temptation is becoming almost overwhelming

SparklyBaubleFeast · 01/01/2009 11:07

go girl!

kslatts · 01/01/2009 12:38

I do agree it's different when dc''s are in bed. Is he up yet? Could you plan something for this afternoon?

LucyEllensmummy · 01/01/2009 13:42

He got up at about 12, net result - all three of us are bored - i fell asleep on the sofa and there is a general air of apathy descending on chez LEM.

I bloody hate new years day - I feel i should be doing something, start the year off with a spark, but im too bored, too tired and too cold!¬!!!

OP posts:
cheshirekitty · 01/01/2009 16:26

sparkly - the old wives tale is if you do washing on New Years day, you will wash someone out of your life.

dd got in at 5.05am this morning, and I had to turf her out of bed at 9am as she was due in at work at 10am.

Remember in the dim past when I used to do things like that!!!

grumpalina · 01/01/2009 16:41

Well mine is still in bed and has only got up to use the bathroom.

Seriously annoyed.

SparklyBaubleFeast · 01/01/2009 16:53

oooh, relented and did some, i wonder who i washed out of my life

cheshirekitty · 01/01/2009 18:32

I wash every year, but mil still around!!!
