Do I give them it cheap?

I know morally, I should do.

Basically I have a nintendo DS game here that I was intending to stick on ebay. But my mum has shown an interest in it and really wants to buy it off me for her husband. She wants to know how much I want for it....

On ebay they're selling for around £30.
I never paid for it in the first place so any amount is profit which will go towards paying off my holiday.

She offered to pay £20 but said it quite begrudgingly...I was going to suggest £15 until I saw them selling for £30+ on ebay

So am I a greedy mare that should just give them it for £15 since I didn't pay a penny for it myself? I should really...shouldn't I?

depends on the kind of relationship you have with your mum.

i would not charge my mum a penny but she is so good to myself dh and the dc. i would love to give her something that i knew she wanted.

on the other hand dh's mum is a thieving (sp?) old hag and i would rather flog it for cash than let her have it.

not much help sorry

MrsSnape · 28/12/2008 21:02

lol she is good, I know I should just give her it but I was kind of relying on the money to put towards the holiday (when I was going to put it on ebay).

your mum? I'd give it to her, wouldn't ever consider selling my mum something that i couldn't/didn/t use

MrsSnape · 28/12/2008 21:03

I wouldn't normally charge her but when I decided to put it on ebay, I kind of budgeted for the money it would make for the holiday IYSWIM? its hard to explain.

I would give it to my mum.

dizzydixies · 28/12/2008 21:05

you're still saving her money she would spend on it in the shops so go with £15 or £20

believer07 · 28/12/2008 21:10

Do grown men the age of Granpas play on nintendo DS. I would be worried.

MrsSnape · 28/12/2008 21:12

lol well apparantly he came home from work one day and said "I wouldn't mind one of those nintendo things".

My mum replied "you?? what would you do with a DS?" and he said "well, all the lads at work have them...."

All the lads at work are in their 20's/30s....he is almost 60. I don't think he'll use it for long but while he is, he wants to brain train games and this Curious Village game lol

my uncle Sam loves his and hes in his 70s

my dh bought me sight training after I had my laser eye treatment - I think he thinks he's fecking funny

thisisyesterday · 28/12/2008 21:14

why don't you explain to her that you really need money for your holiday and that you can get £30 for it on ebay.

i am sure she'd understand. he can go and buy his own game can't he?

Bonnycat · 28/12/2008 21:19

wouldnt dream of charging my mum for it whatever the circumstances TBH but then i have a good relationship with her and she does a lot for us-mainly free babysitting.LOL

dizzydixies · 28/12/2008 21:22

I kind of have a different opinion on this where although I wouldn't have 'charged' my mum for something, she would never have taken something off us, knowing money was tight, without giving us something for it (if we were going to be selling it) iyswim?

Shoshe · 28/12/2008 21:28

my Dad has DH's old playstation2 he is 81, he play golf on it

seeker · 28/12/2008 21:37

I am am amazed that you are even thinking of asking any money at all for it!

Moondancer · 28/12/2008 21:44

I think that if you can afford to go on any holiday anywhere then £30 paid off it is a drop in the ocean. I would just give it to my mum.

They wouldn't help you move to a new and better place to live, when all you wanted was his name on a piece of paper and he had agreed to it - . So, no, don't give it him cheap - ask for what you have calculated on and go and enjoy that holiday. Where are you going? Anywhere nice?

kslatts · 28/12/2008 22:10

I would give it to my mum, but her and my dad do so much for me and my family.

bellavita · 28/12/2008 22:11

actually, andanotherdooropens has a valid point!

naturalbornmum · 28/12/2008 22:22

If its the Curious Village game, I am very interested if your mum doesn't have it

nappyaddict · 29/12/2008 00:15

Can you not just say you've already put it on ebay and it has bidders so you can't give it her now.
