I am so fed up with adults & children alike not saying please & thank you!

I was raised to be polite & am raising my DC the same way, DD is only 2.6 but she always says please & thank you.

I've lost count of the presents/cards I've handed over, doors I've held open, things I've picked up for people who've dropped them etc without so much as a 'Ta'

When I was out at the shops the other day I had DS in the pram, as I was more in the way then others I kept making sure I stood out the way to let other shoppers past etc not one of them said thank you.

AIBU & old fashioned?

I let four people go by me yesterday in Sainsbury's and the fourth one thanked me. Maybe people just don't think you have done anything polite or even noticed you have stopped.

Ladies - what do you say to us visiting all our local supermarkets en masse in the new year, walking round and sorting out all the ill-mannered oafs that don't thank us. If we go in mob-handed we could really make them take notice!

Up the Revolution!!

He He, I say the 'thank you' and 'your welcome' in a loud voice! I also say to DS's 'Never grow up like that, I'll teach you manners!!!!' That usually gets a blush from the passer by!

MrsMagooo · 24/12/2008 16:14

Ooo that's a good one Jodie will have to use that one!

Sunny sounds like a plan to me

We'll fight them in the supermarkets, we'll fight them in the park.....

sunnygirl1412, MrsMagooo and JODIEhadtoomanymincepies - I do that too!!! I always thought I was the only one and am so happy that other people do it!

I can't bear it when people don't say please or thank-you, or wait their turn. It's a bit of a catch 22 isn't it - problem is that those of us it bothers are usually too polite to say anything so they are never corrected and think it is ok.
