OH DEAR GOD!! You've had months to buy the "must have" present for your kids, why the hell do you wait till the last weekend before xmas and then give me a hard time because we dont have it in stock!!

I had some stupid bint who told me i had ruined her sons christmas because we dont have the stupid dancing teletubby anymore!! I dont give a flying f* that Archibalds christmas is ruined because you didnt have the sense to buy it earlier!!!!!!!!

When she told me she was off to Woolies to buy it, i nearly wet myself laughing

Scrooged - have a huge hug, love.

And there were still turkeys in Morrisons when I was there earlier on today, so I suspect you'll find one when you go looking. I'll keep my fingers crossed as much as I can whilst peeling innumerable sprouts, potatoes, parsnips, making the stuffing, stuffing the bird, icing the cake ..........

And why not take your ds to somewhere reasonably small like the Body Shop, and send him in there - you can lurk by the door and he can do his independant shopping in safety.

My friend who's a single mum used to do this with her ds, and the Body Shop ladies were very nice to him, and helpful too.

At least my vegie man dropped a box of vegies off tonight for me so we have the trimmings. Nothing to eat them with though. I could try a vegetarian dinner.

thanks sunnygirl.

He wants to buy me chanel perfume with his money and a gift card from ex-mil. Sweet but I've spent 5 days trying to talk him out of it. Way too expensive. I'll find somewhere small to let him loose.

I used to work a call centre for a well known bank & we were open 24/7 - even Xmas Day although any banking would not be processed til the next working day.

Prior to having the DC I always volunteered for Xmas shifts & so one Xmas Day at about 11am I had a gent phone to pay a bill, I advised it wouldn't leave his account until the next working day at which point he started to yell & swear at me So I wished him a Merry Xmas & terminated the call!!

Loving the "no, I call myself John" - priceless!

not Christmas related, btu I used to work in retail years ago, when the Sunday trading laws were beign revamped, and we were supposed to encourage punters to sign postcards sayign they wanted the laws relaxed. Loads got really irate about it, saying that Sunday trading was immoral and they didn't approve as they didn't think people should be workign on a Sunday. Fair enough, except they were ranting away, in a shop, on a Sunday, that woudln't have been open for them to be in .
Never underestimate the stupidity of the general public at large

Best place to work on Xmas Eve is a pub. Loads of really drunk men (probably recovering from trying to 'pop in and out of the shops' ) giving tips. When I was a student, my tips would generally double my wages for that evening.

I got a turkey!

sunnygirl1412 · 24/12/2008 15:09

I am so glad to hear that, scrooged - I was really worrying for you.

Hugs and Merry Christmas!

Ashantai · 24/12/2008 23:13

YAY for turkeys! hic, I hope all the last minute peeps at least got something vaguely resembling the item they wanted.

But frankly at 23.12 and full of Jack D, i am too pissed to care really!!! Hurrah!!!

'we used to hoover at 4.50pm when we were closing at 5pm to get rid of everyone and get out on time'

Our manager used to change the music to something really annoying right before close to get people out. Like 'Fernando' or Barry Manilow. Loud.

If anyone complained, she'd say it was being played at customer request.

Ashantai · 24/12/2008 23:41

Even when we turned the lights off and tannoyed the fact that we were closed 3 times, the panic merchants still dawdled around the store like lemmings not knowing what to buy last night !!

I'm so glad i wasnt in 2nite, cos i'd have turned the air blue
