i know its a reasonably warmish night but i am sitting in here with heating on .
Dh and dd have pitched a tent and lit a bonfire and are camping out.
Dd says this is the best night ever, i have been ordered to supply popcorn in about an hour!!!

I am jealous as hell. 1. because I love sleeping under canvas and 2. because hell would freeze over before my DH would do something like that with the DCs

GrimmaTheNome · 21/12/2008 21:23

He is the right sort of mad!

DD got a tent from Granny for her birthday. In February. We had it up for a test in about March... frost on ground by 6 and we were chilling in full clothing, sleeping bags etc so didn't stay out. Promised we would next time we had good weather and the ground was dry....

Hasn't happened yet!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2008 21:25

It sounds lovely-as long as they don't expect you to join in!

DoubleBluff · 21/12/2008 22:26

great fun

techpep · 21/12/2008 22:31

Aaah it sounds lovely. A perfect pre christmas treat, and i bet she'll remember it for a lot longer than any gift she receives.

prettybutterfly · 21/12/2008 22:34

How excellent!

Can't imagine DH doing that, or my Dad, for that matter.

I think kids should have a happy mentalist for a Dad. I mean that as a compliment you know!

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 21/12/2008 23:23

are they back in yet

babbi · 21/12/2008 23:26

sounds a great adventure to me - your DH is a first class Dad . Your DD will remember this forever !

TheBayingBanshee · 21/12/2008 23:45

I am so going to make my dh do this but might wait until summer to insist on it. How really lovely. Though you might get some cold feet on your back around 3am .

MrsSeanBean · 21/12/2008 23:51

Wow - a real life night garden! Are they all dressed as Tombleyboos?!

skrimbo · 21/12/2008 23:54

Aww this is soo lovely, tear in my eye thinking of this lovely mad dad camping out with his DD, glad it is a little milder for them tonight. Hope they manage to say out until morning.

This is the kind of thing kids remember forever .

Lovesdogsandcats · 22/12/2008 00:06

How lovely. He sounds like a great dad.
What other nice things does he do?
And just to balance things out...
Is he ever an arse?

ELR · 22/12/2008 06:41

well just to report they stayed the night!!! back in this morning at 6am, dh back a bit sore but thats it says they were lovely and warm!!
They have gone back now and taken ds, dd is planning to sleep there again tonight but dh says not without an airbed.

And yes he is sometimes an arse!!!

dh has now put his back out after allowing both kids to jump on him whilst he was zipping up the tent, he is walking around like his is nine months pregnant!!!
