Finished work today at 1.30pm. Could not get my car out of the car park as a car was blocking me in.

The driver knew what she had done, and had left a phone number to contact her. I phoned her up, left a message and waited, and waited.

Forty-five mins later I phoned number again and got a colleague of hers. I asked for the driver to come and move the car. (Security had also left messages on the phone).

So one hour later she saunters down and moves the car.

Not a sorry or anything. I was so mad I could not say anything to her, as I would have probably sworn at her.

So AIBU to write an email to her on Monday at work and ask:
a) Why she chose to park illegally and block me in.

b) Why she thinks her time is more precious than mine. (I always come into work 30 mins early to get a parking spot, why can't she).
By leaving that note, was she not expecting someone to wait at her convenience until she moved her car.

YANBU, I seriously don't know how you managed to remain civilised.

dingdongmerrilyonpie · 18/12/2008 18:54

I'd have just rang the police.

Alibear1 · 18/12/2008 18:59

OMG how rude!! YANBU at all.

you could if it would make you feel better, but you'd be wasting your time - if she was the sort of person to give a fuck about others, she'd not have parked where she did - or if she had to, she'd have come down promptly. So if you write an email you'll either get abuse off her, or a bad attitude and she'll accuse you of being unreasonable.

I wouldn't ask her anything. I'd just tell her that in view of the fact that she took an hour to move her car, you'll be calling the police to tow her car away in future.

But DON'T lose your temper. Pointless.

I think I would of bumped it out of the way or smashed the window and let the handbrake off

What if you had a child to pick up form school

Work out what your hourly rate is, then bill her for the time you spent waiting for her to come and move her car!

Also - is it a company car park, and if so, could you complain to her manager?
