i feel that way at the moment. He has made a fairly deep scratch on the screen in his frustration and has had it less than a month. Have decided to ban all computer game, Pc use and advent calendar till the end of the week and has to go his room after school and tidy it until bedtime. He is has just turned 11. Is this about right?

actions and consequences by all means MS,but you are demonstrating a disproportionate over reaction

deep breath, step back re-evalute.something more measured than cancel xmas

are you still there mike?

what's a DS??

Lemontart · 17/12/2008 15:55

nintendo DS skidaddle - console is around £100 so not cheap.
My DD2 has scratched hers too. DIdn?t use a proper stylus and learnt the hard way. Having to look at a scratched glass and knowing she did that to her own toy proved enough of a punishment (along with a good talking to and removal of her DS for the weekend - that was tough as she had to watch her sister playing with her DS all weekend!)
Glad to hear you are not cancelling Christmas as suggested in your OP. I understand how annoyed you must feel and hope that you can find something a little more appropriate in terms of consequences.

does he get pocket money? if it is repairable, stop an amount each week towards cost

or make him sell a game and put money towards repair cost

sorry, no idea if they can be repaired, assume it is same as for laptop.
