To take DS out in his fleecy noddy jammies?

We just had a huge tantrum over getting dressed which resulting in him wearing his pjs. Everytime I tried to put his favourite dinosaur jeans on he took them off again.

I don't mind him wearing his pjs but we do need to go out later. Shall I just leave them on him? The feet have been cut off so I can put shoes on him.

yes, unless he is going to a family wedding, ds goes out in his pjs at least 3 times a week.

CharleeInPantoPaperChains · 17/12/2008 11:18

I left my kids in there PJ's the other day swhen the electric was out so we couldn't cook , i bunged them in the car in pj's and coats and we got a McDonalds.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 17/12/2008 11:19

If he is under five, yes. If he is over 12 than probably not.

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 17/12/2008 11:23

I would leave him to it.
I have no shame and if he is young enough not to not worry about it then let him be.

purpleflower · 17/12/2008 11:23

Ok so I won't scar him for life then

He is 2.2, will I get bad looks from people in the shop?

Nah

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 17/12/2008 11:29

PMSL Nooooo you can start a new trend. Make sure you take him out in his slippers though as it will complete the look.
in all seriousness, if you have one of those all in one fleece suits put it on him and pop him in the pushchair/sling and off you go. Done this with ds loads of times...I still have no shame

SnowballsintheSky · 17/12/2008 11:32

I'm taking dd out in a minute in her pyjamas. I shall put a cardy and coat on the top and some baby legs (leg warmers to the uninitiated) over the bottom. Sorted, quick and warm. It's too bloody cold to take her pyjamas off when she's gone to all the effort of warming them up!

mrsdisorganised · 17/12/2008 11:36

Leave him to it...my daughter went to the extremes of going to nursery with hers on! Sometimes it's just easier

purpleflower · 17/12/2008 11:36

It is an all in one just with feet cut out. Thet were kindly given to us by a mumsnetter and I haven't bothered sewing them up.

I am thinking about taking him in his thomas slippers that are like puffy trains not normal slippers. I may also get DD who is 10 weeks dressed for a change, to balance it out lol.

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 17/12/2008 11:38

LOL go for it.
do his thomas slippers go 'choo choo' when you press them?

jeee · 17/12/2008 11:38

AIBU to think some parents are very very very bad? I just saw a child outside in tatty PJs, with feet cut off. What kind of mother takes her child out without dressing them properly first?

Coldtits · 17/12/2008 11:39

I do this all the time, ds2 has a fleece all in one that is so snuggly!

shootRudolphinthehip · 17/12/2008 11:40

People love seeing a wee one in their pj's/ fancy dress stuff. My DD went out as a Princess for approx the first 4 yrs of her life and people now just act a bit disappointed if they see her and she hasn't got some really eccentric outfit on (it's binoculars and a homemade tiara at the moment).

Do it

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 17/12/2008 11:40

jeee that might have been ok if the child didnt have thomas slippers on and a well dressed 10 week old dd in tow

Gateau · 17/12/2008 11:45

I wouldn't do it myself, but it's up to you, of course.
I like my Ds to know the difference between night and day. And I think it looks lazy.

purpleflower · 17/12/2008 11:58

unfortunatly no his slippers don't go choo choo He does do it well onhis own though.

I decided to leave DD in her PJs so I just look scummy lazy rather than controlled led by DS.

jingleMAMADIVAsbells · 17/12/2008 12:16

Is he in a pushchair?

If so just take him out I contemplated doing it the other day because it was so cold I thought surely fleecey all in one is warmer than clothes. LOL.

Don't worry about looking lazy if anyone asks he's not feeling too great and you didn't want to disturb him

JerricaBenton · 17/12/2008 13:11

I took my DS (8 months) out on the school run, then to the Drs, with his all in one fleecies on

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 17/12/2008 13:23

dont worry about it... on halloween i ended up having to go to hospital, spent 30mins trying to get DD (2.6yo at the time) into 'normal clothes' but she was having none of it... she was trolloping through the early pg unit in her witches outfit complete with stripy tights, witches hat and broom!! everyone loved it!!

she's since been allowed out in fairy outfits, snow white outift and even with a huge lion headpiece on!!

Have never taken her out in PJ's but wouldn't hesitate to do so if she wanted to wear them!!

psychohohohoho · 17/12/2008 13:25

Flame and I have just been to the local shopping centre, and while there both started cooing over a little boy who was in tigger fleecy PJ's (and his feet weren;t cut off).........lots were cooing in fact, so, no IMHO YANBU!

believer07 · 17/12/2008 13:27

I probably would not do it myself, not for any reason as such other than I would not want my child to overule my authority.

However, I have a baby that only ever wears babygros as I can not be bothered with little jeans and tops. Baby clothing is such a rip off, £14 for a cardigan in Next for a 7 month old baby.
