My dc attend after school club Tues and Thurs. It is separate from the school. Last week the girl who leads it told me she was holding a Christmas party this Wednesday for all the children. Kids who don't attend that day could attend at no charge but provide some party food. All fine so far

Yesterday letter comes home about said party which said children that don't attend Wednesdays can book extra sessions.

Today I phone and say I don't want extra session as I don't need the childcare but happy to swap another session for Wednesday. Told that I can't change days but have to book extra. So would have to pay for extra childcare I don't need and provide party food.

Am that my dc were told about party and they are excited for them to use that to make a profit

well they would need to pay for extra staff if extra children are there
Normally they say if it isn't your child's day to use the club an accompanying adult will be needed
the party is not free childcare after all

The club was in numbers when I was enquiring about booking as an extra so no extra staff required. But I wasn't allowed to swap. I have changed days in the past with no problem The girl who told me about the party last week was embarrassed. All she said was 'the management has spoken'
