how old are they? am assuming its xmas cards, if from young children yabu, otherwise yanbu

psychohohohoho · 13/12/2008 20:18

are they spelled by children tho?? as I find children have no logic when it comes to writing their friends names!

VivaLaPotPourri · 13/12/2008 20:22

50's. No learning problems before someone says that!

misdee · 13/12/2008 20:23

havent you had Sara

or sahara

noonki · 13/12/2008 20:24

my ds is a joseph and I still spell it wrong

My name is so unusal and unusallly spelt thtat Ican't believe if someone gets it right!

noonki · 13/12/2008 20:24

but then again I can't spell unusual

VivaLaPotPourri · 13/12/2008 20:26

I have had Sara but that I can understand - that's just a variation (albeit different pronounciation) but some people I think spell it Sara. It's not even the mispelling of Joseph - she knows he is called Joseph - where does the 'er' on the end come from? That's just bonkers! I mean, you'd say it in your head.

Not difficult, YANBU

WorzselMincepieYummage · 13/12/2008 20:29

I read your title and expect it to me some random made up name not my name !

I have had cards to Sahra, Sahara, Sera, Sarha and probably more over the years

VivaLaPotPourri · 13/12/2008 20:32

Sounds silly but it actually upsets me - poor DSs Baptism card and now christmas cards are a mix of thos names (from MIL). I don't know why she cannot check the spelling. It's one thing to add in an 'e' or something, but Joesepher? Probably need a [festive kick up the backside].

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 13/12/2008 20:32

hm...s who spelled it wrong...kids...what age group...

WorzselMincepieYummage · 13/12/2008 20:34

I think mil needs a kick up the backside

I think Joesepher is a pefectly good name anyway [fgin]

Piffle · 13/12/2008 20:35

my name is jane
But every card I have got is Jayne.
Fucks me off big time somewhat irrationally

WorzselMincepieYummage · 13/12/2008 20:35

i mean [f gRin] obviously

although [fgin] might be nice, or an [fwine] ?

( [fvodka] )

BINAH · 13/12/2008 20:35

My dd is Sara(because she was born in portugal and we spell it like this in portugueses) but at nursery they allways spell it sahra no matter how hard I try to correct them.

VivaLaPotPourri · 13/12/2008 20:35

SHe must have been on the [fgin]

Joesepher - makes me think of Lucifer. Poor little thing.

OP posts:
VivaLaPotPourri · 13/12/2008 20:37

Oh, the person in question here has the middle name Jayne. Maybe I shouldexpect no less since there is a guy in the family who has shortened his name to Mikey, but spells it Mickey [ftwonk]

Ds is called Fintan. Several relatives on DH's side insist he is called Vincent, so we have a bear called Vince who is always excited to get cards.

My MIL anglicises my children's names when she talks to them but has never tried to merge them into one name. V. odd that one ...

SnowballsintheSky · 13/12/2008 20:41

I'm a Sarah, or should that be Sarha or Saragh? The latter is what I get in Ireland. Interesting....

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 13/12/2008 20:42

lol...now adults spelling family names wrong...depends..I am hardened, because my name is Kerstin, and it is generally either Kirsten or Kirsty..couldn't really care...sons names are Sven, Yannic and Flynn...and oddly Flynn is the name mostly spelled wwrong....and it does annoy me...but still depends..

melpomene · 14/12/2008 00:25

My dd1 wrote a cards to her friends 'Piag' and 'Losea' (Paige and Lucy). But then she is only 5.

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 14/12/2008 00:30

I know a Sarha. shes actually pronounced Sarah, dunno why its spelled Sarha, v odd.
i have a cousin called Adrain. Not Adrian, Adrain. it works in a N Irish accent, luckily, he can just never move away [arf] i think that one was down to dyslexia. probably Sarha's is too.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 14/12/2008 00:33

Bryonie - i have had Bryony (not bad since it an actual spelling of that name) Briony, Briannie, Brianna, Brynie and yesterday at her party they announced that it was time for Bronwyn's guests to go to the party room.

asicsgirl · 14/12/2008 12:23

ooh i love sven, yannic...
