When I announce my pregnancy as a single mum I get variations of the above comment like I am some burden that someone will take pity on eventually?!

oh yes, the relationships board!! I think in real life about 40% of women are quietly seething and putting up with intolerable nonsense from their partners. They don't admit it in real life though. I know I never did. Pretended things were better than they were. I couldn't pretend they were great though. Wasn't that good an actress.

Mind you, DS dad has said that he finds being a single father seems to appeal to women (I am not hurt by this as DS dad is not my XP, we were old drinking buddies when DS was concieved and have an amicable co-parent relationship). I find this irritating, not because I want either DS' dad to be my DP or because I want a DP of any kind - just irritating because while it's not a bad thing that a man who is single but a good, involved, caring father is desirable, a woman with DC is not percieved in the same way...
