Have expected MIL to say something?

Now in the grand scheme of things, this isn't hugely serious, but it's bugging me.

I went away for the night last Saturday (to London to see Barry Manilow, before you ask) and dh took dd to his parents house. Dd was wearing a sweet little pink tracksuit, and the tracksuit top had little sequins all over it. What can I say? We like the bling. It was really nice. I promise. Anyway...

When I got home on Sunday afternoon, dh said, 'Oh my mum washed the clothes that dd was wearing on Saturday, they're upstairs'. When I went to put them away, every single one of the sequins had gone. She must have washed it on too hot a cycle.

AIBU to expect that she must have noticed, when she folded it up, and could have at least acknowledged it. I know she was trying to help by washing her clothes, but I still think she could have said something to dh.

What do you think?

Now listen you lot, my dd is always beautifully dressed, I promise you. In fact she is currently sporting a fabulous red coat from Zara.

Maybe it was a lapse in judgement. Maybe I'm trying to bling her too young.

My friend put DD's white school shirt in the wash when she'd left it there once..... along with her boys' football kit, dark tracksuits etc....
I had to bin it. Doesn't EVERYONE separate whites from coloureds in the wash????

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 14:52

And doesn't every take care of their dd's sequinned tracksuit?

pmssl
does she wear fake tan too jenny?

wotuhohohoinat · 12/12/2008 14:58

Now now, Pinkjenny. If it was from Primark, you cannot seriously expect it to last a wash. Don't stress about it and go and spend £1.50 on a new one.
(I would never say something as blatant as this if I hadn't met you and knew that you wouldn't take offence!)

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:02

You're all very mean. I am flouncing now. You're making me feel like a scouse chav!

You saw Barry? And you sat next to me for an entire meal.
I can only conclude that you are deaf.
Hee hee

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:11

I feel no shame. Barry is a god in my eyes.

OP posts:
wotuhohohoinat · 12/12/2008 15:12

Aha! You SEE Barry as a god and you bought a pink sequined tracksuit - you are blind too!!!
Seriously though, where have the sequins gone? They must be caught up in the washload of clothes.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:14

I bet she's sewing them onto her own clothes as we speak.

I hope this helps ease your pain, Barry Manilow and sequins

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:22

What a beautiful specimen he is.

pamelat · 12/12/2008 15:23

I bet she has not noticed.

MKG · 12/12/2008 15:39

ROFL at this thread.

Maybe the sequins were blinding your poor mil and she had to take them off.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:49

Maybe MKG, Maybe. I reckon she's just taken them off to spite me.

She hasn't noticed. She will when they attach themselves all over your FIL's beige gardening sweater though.

thenewme · 12/12/2008 15:56

I would ring and ask her to check her washer and drier as it may get damaged due to all the sequins coming off. Then see what she says.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:57

FIL only wears Preston North End (football club) branded attire, tucked into his very high waisted trousers.

That's what I was going to do thenewme - but I thought it was a bit passive aggressive.

They don't like me much. They live in the Lakes and find me to be a strange 'city type'.

I thought it was a polite way of trying to get to the bottom of where the sequins are. Not PA at all.

I'm not sure, we got it this year, it's beautiful, cherry red with a hood, and all fur lined. Not a sequin in sight, I swear.

Jenny the coat is lovely but I wish you wouldn't insist on her wearing it with this poor child.

wotuhohohoinat · 12/12/2008 16:29

Urgh! Barf.
