to be slightly amused at friend's family row unfolding on facebook?

So friend's status on facebook this morning read that she was bitterly disappointed at missing her planned day out yesterday. After several comments asking what happened she commented that her parents were supposed to babysit and that they had let her down at the last minute and actually she was fuming about it.

Clearly she seems to have forgotten the fact her mother is on her facebook because a few minutes later a comment popped up from her mother saying "Thanks for that, and actually that's not what happened at all, but if that's what you want people to believe then go ahead."

Now maybe it's mean but I am sniggering slightly at the fact that people live their lives so openly on facebook and that she has clearly not considered the consequences of posting her personal irritations so publically for even her mother to see.

Now this does sound funny, not because mother and daughter are arguning but simply because people do not seem to realise that they are friends with many many people on f.book and they might make comments completely forgetting that it is out there for everyone to read!! And it will offend

BONKERZ · 11/12/2008 17:50

must admit i had quite an open argument on facebook with my niece a while ago, it started as a private email but she let it spill over and as others would have known the comment was for me i felt i had to defend openly! I was also emailing her privately with the more open replies!

BONKERZ · 11/12/2008 17:50

i alos posted how i had fell in love with another man last night and my sister in law almost had a heart attack!!!!!!!

Miggsie · 11/12/2008 17:51

people are massively indiscreet on facebook, it beggars belief.

Would you walk into a public place packed with strangers and start announcing your age, family circumstances, who you like, where you live, what you did last night through a megaphone? Yet, that's how some people act on facebook!!!!

Notabraggywanker · 11/12/2008 17:51

Link please.

Let's all stir it up. ONLY JOKING!

bagsie I tell the MIL her DIL called her a mangle-facer gimmerette.

TheMuppetsChristmasMuggle · 11/12/2008 17:52

i've done it too i let me ex know (by accident) that i was seeing someone else, by posting a status, which a friend commented on - ex then snooped and found out opps.

My friend and her boyfriend have rows that spill onto facebook every weekend. It's depressing.

'I can't believe HIM and HIS behaviour'

'wonders why I'm living with such a bitch'

etc etc

pamelat · 11/12/2008 18:11

Its funny isn't it. I have been guilty of forgetting its not a private forum, and that in fact some of my "friends" on there are people that I haven't seen in 10 years!!
Nothing too embarassing though.

Have seen people that I barely know have public fall outs, mainly the 2am drunken things are funny to read.

oneyummymummy · 11/12/2008 18:13

Haha, i dont know anyone who's had arguments......now im jealous, i would love to see that!!!

fortyplus · 11/12/2008 18:16

One of my friends, who is very prim and proper, has only recently joined FB... and she's joined a group called 'I love sucking cocks'

Should I tell her that I can see it on her profile?

tiredsville · 11/12/2008 18:20

fortplus ha ha ha ha. If she is a good friend then yes!

pamelat · 11/12/2008 18:20

I am "friends" with someone from my past who my ex boyfriend cheated on me with, not really a friend but we knew one another (we were all very young, teenagers)

I wanted to see what she looked like so became her facebook "friend" (shallow cow but do you ever really forgive or forget!)

Anyway she has daily rows with her boyfriend, including swearing at each other and her airing all of their dirty laundry, including that he has cheated on her.

Its not nice but I can't help but feel ever so slightly smug about it. I think I can forgive her now!

I am friends with a girl who is very openly living out her divorce through her FB status..

very scarey and a bit wierd!

fortyplus · 11/12/2008 18:25

tiredsville - I can't pluck up courage just yet - I'll give it a few days and see if she takes it off!

I am in the police and am quite perturbed by the number of jobs I now see where one party is complaining about what another party has said about them on Facebook. I am sure will it get it's own classifcition of crime soon a cyber domestic or something. I think I'm a bit old and past it so I think this obsession about telling the whole world about your life is quite odd.

I have also come to the conclusion that the people who write most on FB about what a great time their having probably aren't having that great a time they are just trying to convince themselves and everyone else. I don't see why you need to write on a computer 'getting ready to go out on the piss'. Surely you'd just get ready and go??

It's a bit like that old addage 'Those who can do - those who can't teach'. Those with a life live it - those who don't write about it'

(I am an old fogey!!!)

oneyummymummy · 11/12/2008 18:28

FortyPlus....YES YES YES, you defo need to post something and on her wall for all to see!just a witty comment, nothing nasty!!

pamelat...not shallow at all a lot of my f.book "friends" are just there for me to snoop at and feel better about myself..i.e school bullies now with no life!haha!

pamelat · 11/12/2008 18:33

When I first had DD my status used to read "up 6 times in the night, shattered, feel like I can't function" .... mmmmmmm hadnt really thought of all my poor friends who hadn't yet had children!

I may be responsible for a significant drop in babies locally.

Megglevache · 11/12/2008 18:35

My staus is always incredibly dull.People must think that I am sucking cocks all day

mine usually has some random ness to it - althou at the mo it currently says 'must not leave mascara in hte boy's way - we have nicely defined eyes! lol.'

then again half of my contacts are edited so they can't see things ie status and wall etc.

oneyummymummy · 11/12/2008 18:40

Trafficcone · 11/12/2008 18:41

Bramshott · 11/12/2008 18:43

Do you really think she forgot Wannabe?! Some people seem to enjoy living their lives and disagreements in public via Facebook - I know a few of my friends do .
