To find this unreasonable?

Dd was meant to be having a friend over after school today. This morning in the playground the mum wanted to cancel, because she (the mum) was not feeling well enough. So instead I'm now having both of her children after school, and taking them back home afterwards as well.

I don't actually want the other child today, as she's giving my dd a bit of a hard time at the moment, whereas dd is getting on well with the other one, but I offered so that their mum wouldn't have to do the school run and could have a bit of a break.

So what annoys me is that the mum is insisting on walking to the school this afternoon, and walking back with us! Does she not trust me to cross the road safely?

your 'aving a laugh aren't you

choccyp1g · 10/12/2008 13:15

I think, it's not you she doesn't trust, it's her DCs. They probably tend to run ahead or push each other, and she doesn't want you to be put in the difficult situation of having to yell at them.

I think you are beineg a bit unreasonableto complain if it was you that offered to have the two of hers to give her a break. She only wanted to cancel after all.

Or am I misunderstanding?

MrsSeanBean · 10/12/2008 13:52

Sorry, I am getting a bit confused, there's too much unreasonable-ness going on here.

PrettyCandles · 10/12/2008 14:19

Well clearly I'm too sensitive.

I only offered to take both her children so that she wouldn't have to do the school run.

I know her children, they know me, we've all walked home together often enough as we live on the same estate.

What a strange thing! YANBU - she is being odd!

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 10/12/2008 14:22

I think it's very strange. If she was too ill for her dd to go on a playdate how come she's not to ill to walk to school and back? She should have either cancelled totally or accepted your offer without the weirdness.
