I've changed my mind, if you put it in writing that morning flexibility would be difficult then YANBU.

This was a standard issue with my previous employment. Everyone's diary is so busy, often the only time more that 2 or 3 could get together was to start it early. No-one considered the issues of childcare - they just expected you to fix it.

Is it a meeting that you could dial-in to, or do you need to be there in person? You could drop your child off and then dial in on your mobile and then go into work afterwards. I've done a few conference calls on trains and wouldn't recommend it.

I had an email this afternoon telling me I needed to be at a feedback meeting at 4pm. I called them and said "OK, but I'm bringing Tink". I did, she had paper and crayons ("Flower Mummy, blue flower now Mummy...") and was quite good really. She was quite chatty but then she noticed people smiling at her which didn't help! She made sure everyone (one of the MDs, chair of the board, visiting inspector...) played with her afterwards too!

I wouldn't think twice about it if I couldn't get any other childcare and I know that they are cool about it, they'll even put her in the CM if she's not supposed to be there (with the CM I mean) but tonight was a little short notice, and she's happy to sit in a chair with colouring stuff.
