Brief backround - I've had asthma since childhood. I don't normally need to take the preventative steroid inhaler as I don't often have attacks.

HOwever, since my baby was born 5 months ago I've been really wheezy so have been taking the preventer (brown) inhaler since he was 8 weeks old.

When he was 8 weeks old I was 13 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight, I'm not 21 pounds frmo it having put on half a stone. My appetite has been haywire, I though it was b/feeding but I stopped my inhaler 10 days ago and my appetite has totally calmed down.

As an athsmatic myself I can assure you I'd rather be fat than ill.

Perhaps try taking some exercise. Then you'd realise how the preventative matters.

Sorry, but you are being a numpty. Listen to the advice and take the inhaler. You've said yourself that you've been 'really wheezy'so why are you thinking of stopping? I have been in the situation where an asthma nurse changed my meds and miscalculated my dose It was scary how fast my asthma went downhill. I was on steroid tablets in a matter of days and lucky not to have had an attack. You have to be healthy for the sake of your child. Get the pram out and walk every day but for gods sake take the inhaler!

Go to see your practice nurse for an asthma review and talk through stuff with her. Personally I up my dose at this time of year, and have had both flu and pneumonia vaccines this year.

Out of control asthma is bad news.
