I bought an usborne book as a Christmas present for my 4 year old and the seller left it in my daughters tray at school in an open envelope - then texted me to tell me what she had done - consequently my daughter saw it, told my son SO now he knows and it can't be from father christmas now, can it ??? GRRRR. AIBU to think this seller should take more care?

As an organise myself yes she should - how annoying for you.

SameAsYou · 09/12/2008 21:05

organiser even!

pregapuss · 09/12/2008 21:07

I am an organiser too. Yes she should have done but it might just have completely slipped her mind. And if it was for your DS, she might have thought it was ok in DDs tray?

alarkaspree · 09/12/2008 21:08

It was a silly thing for her to do. I'd ask the seller to exchange it. Tell your dd that this book was for someone else or a donation to a shelter or something.

pregapuss · 09/12/2008 21:40

Oh yes, I agree with alarkaspree.

Doesn't happen if you use a proper bookshop...

wotuhohohoinat · 09/12/2008 21:47

I bought an Usborne book for my son for Xmas. The man came to deliver it during playgroup, when the kids were sitting around in a circle for song time - no carrier bag, nothing. Not impressed.

loobeylou · 09/12/2008 22:26

this happened to me with an order through school book link catalogue, they should have posted it to my home, but they sent about £40 of books in 3 carrier bags home with DD aged 5 !!

I wrote and complained, that it was hard managing 2 Dc, plus pre schooler, plus 3 heavy bags of books on the walk home, AND there were some christmas presents in there. luckily I was able to make them into birthday presents/give to friends and family instead, but was VERY cross

I got £5 credited to my account.

school have been doing chocoholics catalogue this yr and have NOT sent anything home with pupils as most is fragile and might be destined for their stockings

I would ask for an exchange and say WHy, hopefully they will learn from their mistake and not do it to someone else!

"Doesn't happen if you use a proper bookshop... "

No but if you buy from a local organiser you are helping a local mummy earning a little pocket money

princessmel · 09/12/2008 22:51

You can still give it to them and say it's from you. My 2 know that they get presents from FC AND us and grandparents, aunties etc.

BarcodeZebra · 09/12/2008 23:49

Pregapuss: plenty of local mummy's work in bookshops. What about their pocket money? (And I maintain they would never make this fundamental error at this key time of year.)

BarcodeZebra · 09/12/2008 23:50

ARGH! Where'd that apostrophe come from???

Mummys. NOT mummy's you cretin, Zebra...

"!Pregapuss: plenty of local mummy's work in bookshops. What about their pocket money?"

Yes but they just earn wage don't they? Rather than earn from indervidual sales? So they couldn't care less how many books are sold surely?

ladyr · 10/12/2008 23:38

Why don't you order one of these books instead, they come through the post! click here
