in not allowing my 15 and 12 year old to play grand theft auto

I have always banned this game,I just feel the whole premise is horrible and inappropriate.
Ds1 came home with a copy from a friends house yesterday,they apprently now have Xbox and don't want the ps2 version ,they have children same age as mine and seem to think it is fine,am I being ridiculous ?

Borrow it. Play it yourself. Then decide.

When I say, 'play it yourself' invest a few hours. Maybe an evening. Practise. Then decide if you want your DS playing it.

While you can go around murdering prostitutes, you can also go around on a motorbike doing wheelies and listening to the comedy talk radio shows (as I tend to do).

YANBU, but get familiar with what you're banning so you can make an informed decision about when you are going to let them play these things.
