To worry about ex quitting his job for selfish reasons?

Since my ex (boys dad) split with his girlfriend he's gone off the rails a bit. Pissing it up every night, getting into debt, huge phonebills...last night he went out drinking instead of going to work (!!) and he admits that he almost walked out last week because he "just can't be arsed".

I have a feeling he is either going to quit or get sacked.

I'm worried about this for purely selfish reasons. If he becomes unemployed, we lose £20 a week through maintanance...when I eventually find a job, his maintanance was the main thing that made it finantially worthwhile, if he is unemployed, I'd lose over £140 a month.

This is annoying me, as well as worrying me. And yes, it's all for selfish reasons that I care

AIBU?

Yabu to be selfish Yanbu to be concerned , he is your DSs dad after all and surely this behaviour does not only affect the money but his children too?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/661412-Onthewarpath-HAS-NAMECHANGED-FINALLY because we have been on quite a few of the same threads recently.

Yes it affects the children but no more so that he effects them anyway. He's never been a great dad, its always been hit and miss with him IYSWIM? this recent behaviour is not entirely out of character for him. Just when he was with me/his ex he was 'under control'. He's terrible when he has nobody watching over him (I know how daft that sounds but its true)

I hope for all your sakes that he will soon take controle of his own life again, as I do understand it is worrying for you. I was a bit harsh when I said YABU, as I do understand that obviously, the money issue is quite a important one.
