To think that schools should give parents more than 3 days notice of a carol service?

FFS.

3 days notice.

So I can't go, because I have a meeting which cannot be moved at such short notice.

Why do they still persist in behaving as if we all live in the nineteen fifties? They must have known they would have it on this day for a while, as it in the local church so must have been booked up for a while - other schools use the church for their services too, as do other organisations. Why is it so impossible for them to take on board that nowadays, most parents work and can't drop everything at a moment's notice - and in work terms, 3 days is a moment.

Am so fed up

YANBU
But let them know, write a letter, stop it happening again

YANBU, we are on high alert for DD's Christmas 'thing' this year as there is only 2 weeks left until they break up and so far, the only reason us parents know there is something happening is because the kids are coming home with random Christmas songs and dance moves.

I'm a SAHM so if they were to drop it on us at the last minute, it won't affect me too much, but for DH who like most workers, has to book the time off, it is a PITA.

Schools love to do this!

The school's being unreasonable, not you. I agree that you need to write to the school and point out most strongly that three days notice is entirely inadequate. I'd copy the letter to the Chair of Governors too.

Do you know other parents who are similarly incensed by this? The more letters the school gets, the more likely they are to take notice!

It should have been on the calendar back in September-I would complain. They are lovely but you need prior notice!

We had 3 days notice for the christmas disco on friday, most parents can't go as they have made plans .

our school notified us of all the christmas dates, trips etc in September, and they SHOULD do this. The only thing that's ever last minute is sports days if its rained off
