My 6 month old was hit on the head by a 2 year old and his mum said "he's a bit fragile isn't he?"

misdee · 05/12/2008 18:05

I completely understand why you are pissed off - whether or not 'delicate' is derogatory or not, what she was saying was, in effect, 'the problem with hitting him lies with his delicacy, NOT with my dd's behaviour'.

It can be hard to wrangle toddlers of that age, (they know not what they do!) but it would have been nice had she acknowledged the hurt to your ds rather than seeming to blame him.

2pt4WiseMen · 05/12/2008 18:15

I wonder where your DS got his delicate-ness from? You seem a bit thugg-ish yourself..

thenewme · 05/12/2008 18:15

Me, misdee?

misdee · 05/12/2008 18:20

not u.

the op who describes a 17mth old as a thug and little bloody git

stillstanding · 05/12/2008 18:20

I agree with Blu. I would be as pissed off if someone called my DS delicate as if they called him a thug (or a bloody little git for that matter).

So in my book: OP NU in original post but pretty U in subsequent posts!

RaspberryBlower · 05/12/2008 18:29

Was she maybe just trying to make a crap joke to diffuse things that came off wrong? So she's well aware that her dd is big and boistrous, and it's actually this she's emphasising by saying an older boy is more delicate in comparison ifysim?
