That my DH thinks that Mumsnet is akin to brain rot......

whilst the special interest groups that he has joined on Linkedin are cerebrally superior?

For those that don't know, Linkedin is a networking website for professionals and DH has over 100 connections. I have not joined yet but will do so once I can be bothered to upload my details.

As far as I am concerned, there is room in everyones life for the intellectual
as well as the frivolous things in life. IMHO, MN fulfills both criteria.

I cannot abide intellectual snobbery. I have a PHD in chemistry as does my DH but it does not mean that I have to be serious all the time and only like high brow things!

My DH thinks mn is hilarious!
Obviously some of it is a waste of space- but you get that with any social intereaction tbh.

SantasNuttySTaff · 05/12/2008 16:06

My dh calls it "mums with guns" as some of the debates get a bit heated, but he doesn't mind my mn addiction as now he get free reign to play xbox

TsarChasm · 05/12/2008 16:12

I like the mn/garden fence analogy. Must be a blimmin long fence though

My dh thinks it's all made up. If I start a conversation with 'Someone on mn....' He doesn't seem to think you all actually exist.

You do exist don't you??

TheInvisibleManDidItWithSanta · 05/12/2008 16:29

No Tsar..'tis all in your imagination

Dh does alot of eye rolling and 'ffs-ing' when I mention MN, but then tries to sneakily read over my shoulder.

loobeylou · 05/12/2008 16:34

DPs reading over the shoulder is a punishable offense (see rule 145 clause iii)

I too am guilty of the "i was reading somewhere...."

pointydog · 05/12/2008 16:35

your dh is right.

Linkedin sounds like total wankage.

And I'm not sure where the phD in chemistry comes into this at all.

pointydog · 05/12/2008 16:36

should I be feeling like a number one failure since linkedin have made no attempt to link with me?

Am I nothign?
