to be reluctant to get rid of the moses basket?

My DS is 5 mths and rapidly grew out of the moses basket I insisted we buy (I borrowed one for DD 3.9 yo). Anyway, I really don't need it any more and we're not having more children (DH had the snip recently!), so the basket and stand are just sitting in the spare room.

I've asked around at DD's nursery and no-one there can use it, so I was thinking freecycle, but I feel strangely reluctant to let it go.

I'm being daft, aren't I?

Understandably daft, IMO . There's something very, very cute about moses baskets, plus they are a link to babies at their tiniest and most "baby-ish" stage of their life.

Would your DD use it for her dolls? That might be a good excuse to keep it.

I do know what you mean, they are one of the nicest bits of baby kit and kind of symbolic of when they were "so tiny..."! So YANBU! But if you have the space, why not keep it in the loft or somewhere in case there will be others in your families who might be able to use it one day? DH's family have a crib that most of them used in their time and our DS slept in it too for a while (when he outgrew the basket which I also insisted on!), I'm sure that will still be being passed around for many years yet.

I was reluctant to part with any of our baby stuff, end of an era, etc - but once I started freecycling, it was a good feeling.Highchair, bouncer and moses basket with bedding all went to a very grateful teenage mum-to-be. HAve kept a small selection of special toys and clothes, first shoes etc.

In the end would rather give it all away to be used now than have it mouldering in the loft and get it out some day to look at and see it ruined.

And unless you got a massive house, you're gonna need the space soon for all their other clutter!!

If you're daft then I am too . I've got rid of the other baby stuff (apart from special little bonnets etc) but the moses basket is at the back of the garage, wrapped in polythene. It's not going anywhere!
Dd is almost 13 yo and ds is 8, btw . I tell myself dd might use it one day for my grandchildren.

I gave my moses basket and other stuff away to a mother and baby charity, it made it seem less harsh.
Later on I put the rest of the stuff on freecycle.

YANBU
I was given mine so it felt right to pass it on.
Plus DD was 9lb 12 at birth so she didn't spend much time in hers.
