to think that a person of nearly 30 shouldn't act like such an idiot

Today, one of my colleagues went off to collect our department's invites to the Xmas party. By mistake, he brought back one too few so didn't give one to one of my colleagues (so instead, she/he could ask for one to be sent in internal mail). She then told him to f* off, and had threw a hissie fit worthy of a 3 yo. We were all a bit ... surely a "woman" of 29 should be able to accept disappointment with a slightly higher level of decorum than this? It's not like she's not going to be able to go.

Seriously. what an idiot (only child ... maybe this is why?)

I would like to say I'm surprised, but this week I seem to be surrounded by grown women throwing ridiculous diva-strops. There's something in the water...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 02/12/2008 16:21

well, she was definitely out of order..but it's pretty harsh to blame it on her being an only child (I am one).

MadreInglese · 02/12/2008 16:22

Hmmm does she have red hair?

Pinkjennybellrock · 02/12/2008 16:27

I'm an only child. I definitely have a tendency for hissy fits, but so does every woman I know, and I'm pretty sure they're not all only children.

And yes, she was being ridiculous.

NoBiggyTurkeyHereThanks · 02/12/2008 16:29

Where's that inner voice, you know, the one that says "get a grip, don't do that, you'll only look a tit"?

MadreInglese · 02/12/2008 16:35

Oops, not suggesting that all redheads have hissy fits of course, just someone I know fits the bill and there can't be two of them

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 02/12/2008 16:38

Actually I am an only child and don't have hissy fits (except to DH) ..mainly because I work as a receptionist and have been on the receiving end a few times!

Uriel · 02/12/2008 16:38

I wonder why he didn't ask for one to be sent to him in the internal mail, as it was his mistake?

stillstanding · 02/12/2008 16:41

Is there some background? For example is she regularly left out and this is just another cruel way of doing so?

clarabellabella · 02/12/2008 17:45

No she isn't (regularly left out or red haired). Later on, the same guy asked her for some information to complete stats for a management report (that she used to prepare), but she said "no. I can't be arsed" and then started off on another hissy fit. Is this PMT? Or insanity?

hollyivypoppy34 · 02/12/2008 19:32

whilst I'm not excusing her hissy fit if this bloke forgot to get an invite why did he not send for a spare himself? She might have over reacted but I can sort of see why you might feel a bit left out over it.

Carmenere · 02/12/2008 19:36

It might be disappointment aggravated by pmt.

I remember working in a restaurant and at Christmas they forgot my bonus. I took it incredibly personally and cried and everything. It was just an oversight but as I had busted my backside working for them it felt personal. I definitely over-reacted but I would imagine they haven't forgotten a staff members bonus since
