Or if you're really tall. Or if you're really tall and built like a brick shit house.

SlartyBartFast · 01/12/2008 22:40

perhaps people shoudl be organised in height order when they come in, smallest at the front.

I took DD (aged 4) to see a musical in one of the Birmingham theatres at the weekend. We were delighted to see that the row in front of us was empty, giving us a fantastic view.

However, just before the curtain went up, three people moved from across the aisle and sat in front of us.

Two men who were at least 6ft 3 and weighing about 22 stone each, and a woman of about 5ft 10. Dd had to kneel up on my lap, or sit on the back of the seat to see.

KatieDD · 01/12/2008 22:48

Little fish, i would have grassed them up and made them move back to their own seats, cheeky buggers.

SlartyBartFast · 01/12/2008 22:51

i did once tell people in the cinema, who sat in front of us that my dc's couldnt see, they ignored me at first, but eventually moved.
ha ha

I should have done, shouldn't I! It's just possible that they were asked to move as they started off sitting in front of the sound/lighting desk and the technicians probably couldn't see either!

That was really brave of you Slarty!

i always go straight to the back as im so tall.

Ashantai · 01/12/2008 23:09

You'd love me then, i'm a totaly shortarse!

Santaisfeelingfunnypeculiar · 01/12/2008 23:10

I am small, so should always have front seats (& general first dips on everything)

Littlefish · 01/12/2008 23:11

You are a lovely, considerate person Mamzon. I would let you sit in front of me, just because you are nice .

All of my family are tall, so we tend to do the same thing. I always feel sorry for anyone who has seats behind us at our annual family outing to the theatre!

Me - 5ft 9
Sister - 6ft 2
Brother - 6ft 2
Mum - 5ft 9
Dad - 6ft 4

OOOh this really irritates me especially when it is at performances where you stand to watch.

I took dd1 and neice to see a fireworks display and more recently santa arriving in town but really struggled as they couldn't see and kept getting pushed by parents trying to get into the front so that they could see better.

At childrens things children should be given seats/standing room at the front and parents slightly behind.

Dibsie · 02/12/2008 10:55

It was like the first day at the sales with parents trying to get to the front row at my DS's school (we sat in the second row) Then, because there were so many parents standing at the back, the teachers put another row of seats at the front.

I had to chuckle at all the parents trying to get out of the orignal front row and into the row in front

Hulababy · 02/12/2008 10:59

Ooh - you have to get there early for front row seats. I am hoping that the fact I help out on the nativity days this week means I can bag a seat early on in the day. Will get a good one just after asembly in the morning and drape my coat about it Wonder if I should do same for DH and his parents coming the day after

Dibsie · 02/12/2008 11:04

There was also the mum last year who rather than sit on the seats provided, plonked herself on the floor at the front so she could take photos of her child. The side of her head is in every photo I took of my DS.

Thank goodness you can edit photos these days!

boocha · 02/12/2008 11:05

tbh, i'd rather sit at the back.
If ds spots us we've had it. Last year we were about 3 rows back and ds was constantly trying to get our attention "mum, dad, look!" whilst holding out the contents of his nose on his finger.
Cue, dh and I slowling sinking into seats and looking anywhere but at ds

SlartyBartFast · 02/12/2008 11:06

she sat in the middle with her camera

lol boocha. At dd's last xmas play for dancing, which is open to the public not just the parents of pupils and had over 100 people watching as it was the matinee performance, she insisted on running back on stage alone after her groups dance to wave to make sure nana had seen her. She sang the audience twinkle little star and then walked off showing her knickers to everyone

She later tried to run on in her undies while watching the older girls perform from the wings but was caught by the dance teacher just in time.

She is also on dvd pushing another little girl out of the way to get closer to the pink fairy.

And she is shy apparently . Shy my arse.
