To ban my DH from ever driving my car again?

Quattrocento · 23/11/2008 19:15

DH has pranged his car. For a variety of legitimate reasons, he could not drive the courtesy car the insurance company provided. So while his car was being repaired, I used the courtesy car, while he drove my car.

I got my car back today. I had left six of my favourite CDs in the autochanger. DH has taken them ALL out and mysteriously lost them. He can't remember where.

In their place, he has left one CD of Gareth Gates. I mean, WTF, Gareth Gates??? He substituted Bach for Gareth Gates?

I mean, I think I'm being pretty reasonable in not divorcing him instantly. AIBU to ban him from ever driving my car again?

How annoying.
Get him a Segway for Christmas.

differentID · 23/11/2008 19:18

I admire your restraint. In your situation, I'd have twatted him.

Kevlarhead · 23/11/2008 19:51

To be honest, if you were to set him alight, beat him with a fencepost, and pee all over his twitching corpse, the jury would probably find you not guilty on grounds of extreme provocation.

But i can't stand Gareth Gates either, so I'm biased.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/11/2008 19:56

entrigued why he couldnt drive the curtsey car?

but yes losing your cd's and leaving gg in their place

instant grounds for divorce

or

alot of grovelling needed

MmeLindt · 23/11/2008 19:57

YANBU for not letting him have your car again

YABU for admitting to MN that your DH listens to Gareth Gates

Tortington · 23/11/2008 20:01

yaNbu

ho the fuck listens to greth gates that isn't gay or over 50?

southeastastra · 23/11/2008 20:02

no and i'd divorce him gareth gates i don't know

cheshirekitty · 23/11/2008 20:08

Divorce him citing his liking for gareth gates.

But before you do that, cut all the legs off his trousers, and all the arms from his jackets.

Chirpygirl · 23/11/2008 20:11

I think the only way to cure his Gareth ;osession; is to drive over him repeatedly while playing it.

Then insert the cd somewhere painful.

Quattrocento · 23/11/2008 23:49

I;m glad you all think I'm not being unreasonable.

Gareth Gates. I ask you! Do you think this is the onset of something more sinister? Like dementia or the onset of DH questioning his sexuality?

Don't bother with Relate. They won't be able to help this case.

Quattrocento · 23/11/2008 23:56

Can you imagine the shock though?

I mean, you get back into your trusty car with a sigh of relief. Adjust the seat, adjust the mirrors, seatbelt on, start the car, drive off, and switch the CD on.

I honestly thought I'd got into the wrong car.

I guess he's getting 6 cds for Christmas then? Then he can put them back where they belong!!!

hecate · 24/11/2008 08:04

gareth gates? is your husband normally abusive?

(ps... a cd has nice sharp edges. Especially when slung, frisbee style...)

BouncingTurtle · 24/11/2008 10:15

Definitely think you have grounds for divorce - mental cruelty.

He'll need to replace those CDs and do some major grovelling involving spa days/wine/chocolates and entire florist shop.

purpleduck · 24/11/2008 10:24

Mine listens to Guns'n'roses on a loop

The first thing I do when I get in the car is hit eject!

Penthesileia · 24/11/2008 10:24

Wow. I mean, if Madonna divorced Guy for unreasonable behaviour...

YANBU!

Seriously, though, this is a big 'un. To me at least. DH and I pretty much sat down and confirmed that we like the same music (Bach, etc.) before we got hitched! Being forced to listen to the drivel that other people call music is maddening... And to lost your CDs! Chuh.
