to want defensive newbies to just "get over it!"

I am neither a newbie or a member of the old guard but it seems to be there has been a massive influx of new names some of whom get rather defensive if anyone even mildly takes the piss in the usual spirit of Mumsnet. I love MN and won't be flouncing off just yet but it feels very different at the moment. I know things change and move on and I am all for that but there is a very different and rather touchy feel to it just now. Sort of reminiscent of lunch with my uptight MIL.

And now I think of it your post on this thread is a prime example of the sort of think I am talking about. Thanks for that.

Don't be sad southeatsastras its good to get out the rudeness. Prevents me saying it in RL even though I have started to say LOL instead of Laughing I spend to much time on here.

ithinkimtallandblonde · 18/11/2008 14:21

Eh this thread ping ping, the old people were so much more fun, it hurts. sob sob.
I've seen a few lately one slagging of peoples usernames.
I'm all for swearing though.

brightongirldownunder · 18/11/2008 14:23

Jesus, am I going to look a complete twat by starting up yet another unsuccessful thread? Come on you prissy lot..

amethyst86 · 18/11/2008 14:23

User names have always been slagged off, with gusto.

I do wish people would think about their AIBU threads before posting though. Some of them are clearly not being unreasonable but they post anyway. Alot of the time I just think you smug git, you know you're not, but you just want to wallow in your self righteous, pious, pc general goodness. Fark orf.

ithinkimtallandblonde · 18/11/2008 14:25

Late to pick up dd, not being defensive and not replying just being a shit mother. Apologies was looking forward to debate will check back in later.

IwishIwasamermaid · 18/11/2008 14:26

I met a Mum at the swings the other day who invited me to join her Mum and baby group, I considered it until she said that obviously her children don't watch TV or eat chocolate. Then I decided I would stay and home with Mumsnet.

Its entertainment here, I can't be bothered with competative Mumming and there seems to be that creeping in here a bit.

pingping · 18/11/2008 14:27

ithinkimtallandblonde you will never get in a clique if you continue like that.

Ha ha Custardo's username thread was shit funny.

ithinkimtallandblonde lighten up man chill and enjoy the ride because before you know it your be a old timer and most likely moan about the newbies.

as for old people were so much fun. Cod was jokes without a doubt and some people on here were friends with her I am sure no one said it hurts though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/11/2008 14:30

grumblingirl · 18/11/2008 14:35

brightongirldownunder · 18/11/2008 14:38

Rhubarb · 18/11/2008 14:39

Dominion · 18/11/2008 16:54

Yeah.
Lots of boring, uptight, rude and defensive people.

Redirect them ALL to Bounty, Netmums, Crapums', Childfreebychoice, etc.....

Tee2072 · 18/11/2008 17:01

Well, as a newbie I want all the old MNs to stop telling me how wonderful it used to be around here. I think its pretty damn good right now, thank you very much.

colacubes · 18/11/2008 17:10

I am neither old nor new, I am a junior, but some of the oldies can be arses, and do the militant mn thing, and some of the newbies can be a little snappy, and sometime over sensitive, I was, and I am sure I will be all of those things, swings and round abouts.

just say what you think, and do your thang, and all will be well in mn land!

AuraofDora · 18/11/2008 18:16
