I find it a bit annoying really, a friend recently sent me a people you may know for her daughter, and I see facebook as an adult site really. Also am I BU to get annoyed at people describing there DP as 'baby' all the time? Or am I just a miserable old cow who should lighten up?

wabbit, I'm guessing that the American FB is vastly different from the UK version? I haven't seen anything "naff and sordid". Is there a difference between the two in what the viewer is sent by the others on FB? Just curious.

Facebook was made for students at Uni and then because of Myspace became very popular.

YABU If you want to add her add her and limit what she can see.

As long as the parents are watching what there kids are doing on Facebook and the children's profiles are locked up can't see what the problem would be. Better than them being on Bebo

Re the 'pedant alert', my use of the word 'disinterested' was correct.

I did explain that in my previous post, but as it relates to a current police investigation regarding FB, I subsequently considered it prudent to get the post deleted - so you'll just have to take my word for it.

It seems odd to criticise the choice of a word made by another poster though, when the correct usage of that word depends on context, and you didn't know what that context actually was.

Well, I used to get superwall posts of gross pictures and vids too - my choice to open them I know, but not what I want to see over a cuppa... seems to me some of my 'friends' at least lose all sense of taste when it comes to fb

I deleted my superwall application I got so fed up with dross.

Bette Noire - I wasn't saying you misused disinterested... supporting your use of it.
tis obviously a serious point for you though and I was just being flippant. sorry.

i deleted my fun wall when my 15 year old sister and 13 year old brother joined.

i was worried they would have things forwarded to them that were unsuitable.

I do monitor their accounts and will ask if there is anyone on the freidsn list i dont recognise

My son is on msn but not fb, he is 12, for me facebook not only lets you chat but you can see and hear what people are up too, a tiny bit different!

I have friends whos children try to add me as friends, I ignore their requests I dont want little ones seeing some of the stuff that ends up on there. Not from me anyway!
