I mean, is that entertainment? That ad where laughing adults play 'wake me up before you go go'

We flutter our wrists about, side by side, in the living room, while producing the pappiest form of muzak ever known to man.

no one seen it?

DoubleBluff · 16/11/2008 22:57

looks shit doesnt it?
Doesnt make me want to rush out and buy it.
I saw the 'Entertainer' one. It clearly wasn't.

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 16/11/2008 22:58

gawd yes

dp and i kind of slowly urned to one another and asked the same question

sounds unbearable

pointydog · 16/11/2008 22:59

yeah. I'd rather just put the cd on and dance to it in my front room. AT least the music would sound reaonably stimulating

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 16/11/2008 22:59

embarrassing imo

SoWhat · 16/11/2008 22:59

Me and DP did the same thing earlier!

pointydog · 16/11/2008 23:00

for wham

Well we love it, dd is soooo excited when we play it and loves watching me and dh making idiots of ourselves. It's by no means brilliant, but it's a laugh.

pointydog · 16/11/2008 23:02

so's dancing to music in the living room and singing along and it doesn't cost 200 quid

DS2 (11) had saved up for this and has been playing it all weekend. It's good 'wholesome' entertainment (as opposed to the bloodfest going on on his brother's XBox). It's good for teaching rhythm and there are lots of different activites. Can be played with up to four players but they each need a nunchuck and remote.

pointydog · 16/11/2008 23:03

forgot the cost of all the nunchuks.

It's weirdly fascinating isn't it? I just don't quite understand what you have to do. Just wave the 'things' around or what? And why are those things called nunchucks? (very old and mad and behind the times emoticon).

pointydog · 17/11/2008 19:55

I can;'t say I find it weirdly fascinating. You flick your wrist about, grin a lot and a third rate cover version plinks and plonks its way from your tv screen.

I think we must have another ad over here (US/Canada) ours has lots of people in boxes manically waving their hands around to different sound effects. I think it is very cool.

CoteDAzur · 17/11/2008 20:03

I bought Wii Music today and DD (3.2) had a ball with it.

It doesn't cost anywhere near 200 quid, I don't know what you are talking about.

Hulababy · 17/11/2008 20:06

I am assuming the £200+ figure is supposed to include the cost of the Wii and the controllers, etc. Which isn't a true reflection as obviously the Wii can be used to play lots and lots of games, not just Music.

I assume the real cost of the game is far far less.

roisin · 17/11/2008 20:21

I saw the advert yesterday and thought yuck, as did dh.

We like the Wii though.

pointydog · 17/11/2008 20:36

well, yeah, you need a wii. I've played wii sport. It was rubbish too.

We really are going to end up like the humans in wall-ee

Think you are picking on the wrong console there. Playing the Wii is quite active (certainly in comparison with an Xbox or Playstation)

pingping · 18/11/2008 10:01

Wii is bloody brillent. Wii Fit is the best thing I have played in ages. Also the music game looks good

CoteDAzur · 18/11/2008 13:42

pointydog - What exactly do you expect from a game that is classified (+3)? Of course it will be simple enough for a 3 yr old.

Wii Fit is truly brilliant.

pointydog · 18/11/2008 19:32

I expect really good graphics (wii's very disappointing)

I foolishly expected some sort of sporting technique might be required or developed, instead of jerky flicks of the wrist.

I didn't find it terribly active at all. Compared to an xbox, well yes. But it didn't require much more activity than doing the washing up.

OP posts:
CoteDAzur · 18/11/2008 20:29

I'm guessing you didn't try Wii Fit

I have done yoga for years, and can safely say that yoga on Wii Fit has all the correct techniques. It's even better than a personal coach in one sense - it knows exactly where your weight is and how stable you are.

What you are thinking of expected must be something like the tennis software used by Sharon Stone in "Total Recall". We are not there yet, but probably soon will be.

pointydog · 18/11/2008 20:40

I haven't seen total recall, as far as I remember.

So wii fit is the good one, is it? Well. I might stumble across it one day. When I'm tired of the world
