Just came home from work to find tesco's van outside my house. The driver got out of his van and started moaning that he'd been sat there 10 minutes.

I very kindly pointed out that my order was due to be delivered between 5 and 7 so he was actually early!

He was still grumbling to himself as he brought my stuff in, then he got out that machine thingy that you have to put your signature on. It would work and so then he threw it really agressively onto the floor.

He stomped off to get a sheet from his van for me to sign and came back muttering somthing about 'fecking technology'

I was astounded to say the least, he behaved like a 2 year old throwing a paddy!

Sod his bad day - I'd complain about him.

RomanCandleQueen · 14/11/2008 16:53

He's had a bad day.
If I'd had a bad day too, I'd be phoning the store to complain!

fartmeistergeneral · 14/11/2008 16:53

Have to say that Asda men are incredibly polite - almost embarrassingly so. Every time they hand me a bag and I take it, they say thank you!

sagacious · 14/11/2008 16:53

YANBU but then (sweeping generalisation) every tesco deliveryman I ever had was very similar

Have gone back to Sainsbos who seem to grow very jolly people who talk about the weather

Ocado man was very nice but a bit bumbling and couldn't find a pen.

sussexoldspot · 14/11/2008 16:57

Agree with sagacious - we scuttled back to Ocado after two Tesco deliveries which sound eerily similar to yours - the first one moaned about sitting there for 15 minutes when he was half an hour early, miserable git.

stirfry · 14/11/2008 16:58

My darling children were stood next to me when he mutter 'fecking technology, only he actually said the real swearing word!

Bad day or not surely its not acceptable to swear like that in fron of DC! or anyone for that matter

My Tesco people are unfailingly pleasant. But there was a thread months ago where it became clear it seems to depend what store you're ordering from.

I'd be tempted to complain personally.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 14/11/2008 17:02

Poor you, he sounds completely out of order. I would ring and complain.

In defence of Tesco drivers in general, mine are all lovely, and I've been ten mins late getting home for delivery before to find they've waited for me! They always stop and chat and fuss over DS.

Your one seems nothing like this tho!

LuckySalem · 14/11/2008 17:02

Oh stirfry - If your DC's were there then completely different matter! I'd tell the store!

This is why I shop myself, They always pick crappy produce and they seem moody so I shop myself! lol

Saturn74 · 14/11/2008 17:03

Asda delivery man was very jovial, and complimented my children.

Tesco delivery man moaned at me because he thought my house was actually somewhere else.

I conceded that I deliberately moved it, brick by brick, under cover of darkness, and therefore his petulance was completely justified.

He blinked at me, very slowly, and didn't utter another word, not even when I signed his techno thing.

He also spilt my cream all over my baguette (not a euphemism), so I pretended to be middle class and send a strongly worded email of complaint.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 14/11/2008 17:05

LMAO HumphreyCushion 'spilt my cream all over my baguette'

Saturn74 · 14/11/2008 17:06

He said "fucking technology" in front of your DC?

He'd currently be residing under the patio if that happened here.
Or I'd have beaten him senseless with a multi pack of toilet roll.

I think you have been very reserved - shop the unprofessional, aggressive, moaning bastard! (no pun intended)

(Disclaimer: I may be slightly affected by PMT).

Troutpout · 14/11/2008 17:07

Actually i probably would complain about him moaning at me for being on time.
Swearing in front of child too...i would complain about that

SoupDragon · 14/11/2008 17:10

Did you have a bagless delivery?

stirfry · 14/11/2008 17:26

Yes we just started getting a bagless delivery, tbh its a pita as they have to come in the house.

I must say that until today I've always had lovely delivery men/women. This guy was clearly having some kind of mental meltdown!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 14/11/2008 17:29

I once asked my delivery man how the new bagless deliveries were going. He gave me A Look and I laughed.

I always have bags and give them back to the driver next time.

EXStepfordwife · 14/11/2008 17:38

Wait for the great day when the cheeky bugger is late delivering to you - it will come - revenge is sweet. Politeness from him costs nothing.

RubberDuck · 14/11/2008 17:45

I was actually 50 minutes late getting home and missed my Sainsbos delivery a couple of weeks back. I was very apologetic but they bent over backwards to redeliver and were unfailing cheerful/insisting that their schedule hadn't been put out by my cock up. Neither did I get billed an extra delivery charge.

I feel even more grateful now after reading your experience!!

saltire · 14/11/2008 17:47

Humphery - did you get a reply to your email?
I el[mailed Tesco in January, over
A) Subsituting Haggis with Shortbread
B) A bagless delivery which had chewed chewing gum stuck to it
C) A bagless delivery that had raw chicken in the same box as cooked ham, and loose rolls
D - A bagless ddelivery that had lemonade on top of bread
E) A bagless dleivery with eaten lollipop sticks stuck to fruit.

That was all the same order BTW.

I haven't had a reply yet.

MadMarg · 14/11/2008 17:55

Ha, my Tesco man was 2 1/2 hours early on a Sunday, and miffed that we weren't there! To be fair to the poor guy, we were the last ones on the list and he could have gone home after our delivery, but we deliberately chose that time because we knew we wouldn't be home until then. And at least he wasn't RUDE about it!

Saturn74 · 14/11/2008 18:55

saltire, give them a ring on the number on their website - they'll refund you.
