I cannot believe the amount of crap that so many of you waffle on about!
I realise that not everyone has IQs to be particularly proud of but for gods sake, has nobody got anything interestng to talk about!!

OP posts:
southeastastra · 13/11/2008 19:38

why do you care? you obviously only post to wind people up

i can't find any intelligent discussions involving you

NewspiritsFromOldghosts · 13/11/2008 19:39

can i point out to the op that it is not just a negative thread title that gets a response within seconds.

Many many threads have been posted on MN about all sorts of issues by people in pretty desperate need of help/advice or just a bit of company when RL can't provide that.
When my sister lost her twins a little while back i posted and people responded immediately. It was a huge comfort to me when i was stuck at home, on my own and miles away from dsis.

threads like this one are bound to get a negative response and quickly, you posted in AIBU dipshit!

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2008 19:41

You can try but she is on a higher plane so unlikely to hear

MargeSimpsonMyAlterEgo · 13/11/2008 19:42

OK, if we've decided the moon is the cause of her nonsense, can we make this thread more interesting now?

It intrigues me that people use brains/IQ as a way of demonstrating superiority - as if they have somehow had a hand in determining their own intelligence. Let's face it, IQ is a lottery like hair colour. Surely the value we place on people should relate to how they use their gifts, not be based on the gifts themselves.

Discuss.

Please; crappypants?

lovleygirls · 13/11/2008 19:46

What?

differentID · 13/11/2008 19:46

that's a really interesting argument. Inborn iq versus what is termed useful application. In me own limited experience "highly intelligent" people have very little common sense soemtimes.

ChirpyGirl · 13/11/2008 19:46

I happen to have an obscenely high IQ [smug] but I don't want to spend all night talking about life, the universe and everything.
After spending all day with 2 under 3's you are lucky if I can summon up the enthusiasm to type a response to anything, so why don't you do us all a favour, fuck off and join mensa.com

hecate · 13/11/2008 19:46

so you would have been happy had your thread not got one single reply? Ah yes, of course.

It doesn't matter, does it, really, in the grand scheme of things?

Sometimes it's fun to bitch at the troll.

I know when I have had a bad day I love to come on here and find we have a troll. I release all my pent up aggression.

None of it matters and if you find it depressing, start a thread you feel would be interesting, or turn off the puter and do something else.

There are very many intelligent people here, which is why we kick the trolls.

We find them stupid, pointless, dull and fair game.

lauraloola · 13/11/2008 19:49

I have a lot of common sense and I think I have a fairly average IQ.

My sister who is very clever has no common sense at all.

I think you have a point differentID.

Doodle2U · 13/11/2008 19:49

C'mon then, Crappy - discuss stuff with me. I'm in the mood for a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

differentID · 13/11/2008 19:50

rofl doodle. Please excuse me while I clean the screen.

psychomum5 · 13/11/2008 19:53

oooh.....yippee.......a wonderful ripe-for-the-picking troll to hurl all the insults at I have been storing up for the past few days.

what fun

maybe we can have a 'worst insult competition' instead of discussing the merits of IQ etc......would relieve the apparent boredom at least!

pipintroll · 13/11/2008 19:58

I read the title and knew this would be you Crappypants. If it's all so boring and beneath you, why do you bother?

You have started threads like this before so I think it must be you who is bored.

hecate · 13/11/2008 20:01

how about a brainy sounding insult competition?

Tu es stultior quam asinus

I have no idea if that's right, but it sounds good

TeenyTinyTorya · 13/11/2008 20:03

I'm not at all bored - have piles of knitting and ironing to do, and something I want to watch on the telly. I just fancied coming on MN for half an hour to see if anything's going on. That ok, like?

TheNewsMonger · 13/11/2008 20:03

Interesting idea DifferentID. I have quite a low IQ I think. I have taken a couple of on line IQ tests and I always score very badly ONly about 100. But I have a lot of common sense, social empathy and 'useful application' to coin that phrase. I seem to be able to fool people into believing that I am more intelligent than average, rather than less.

I think an IQ of a 100 is actually below average.

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2008 20:04

Orcae Ita!

hecate · 13/11/2008 20:06

excellent!

Stercorem pro cerebro habes

not you sm, obviously!

differentID · 13/11/2008 20:06

100 is not low. It's the benchmark average by which IQ is measured. It's all very well having a high IQ, but you're totally screwed if you cannot apply the knowledge/ skills you have.

morningpaper · 13/11/2008 20:07

I think an IQ of a 100 is actually below average.

you big numpty, it is average by definition

you seem very lovely though

morningpaper · 13/11/2008 20:08

Most academics have high IQs but can barely get their own pants on without help

BoffinMum · 13/11/2008 20:10

Stop teasing us academics about the pants. I can't help it, it's my dodgy hip joints!

BTW I have never done well on an online IQ test either. I am apparently subnormal. I'll just have to live with it I suppose.

TheNewsMonger · 13/11/2008 20:10

OOh thanks differentID, I feel better now, because the poor withered atrophied muscle that serves as my brain may only be average, but I manage to eke out every last drop of its capability!, so, Crappy Pants, Accipe Hoc!

differentID · 13/11/2008 20:12

The average IQ of the population as a whole is, by definition, 100. IQs range from 0 to above 200, and among children, to above 250. However, about 50% of the population have IQs between 89 and 111, and about 80% of the population have IQs ranging between 80 and 120, with 10% lying below 80, and 10% falling above 120.
Yes, that was just a copy and paste and is based on an American article, not necessarily current!

TheNewsMonger · 13/11/2008 20:14

Thanks morning paper. Maybe it's a bad idea to do online IQ tests with Backyardigans in the background!

I should do one under laboratory conditions as Paul Daniels (?) used to say.
