He will be 10 months old, so no idea what Christmas is or that he should be getting presents.

Have got him some little bits to open: a book, a jingly rattle, a toy mobile phone and a Christmassy outfit.

Have had a brainwave that instead of getting anything else I could buy some re-usable nappies for him!Money is tight. It would save money on disposables if i could switch. cant afford to just buy them for nothing, but maybe could afford it if it was instead of extra Christmas pressies.

He will be 1 in February so can get him the present I was thinking of getting him for Christmas then instead? (Click clack car set)

loving the idea -useful gifts, brilliant.much better than filling your house full of crappy toys that get disgarded after a few weeks. lets all buy our kids useful gifts from now on!!!!! mines getting duvet covers in their favorite tv cartoons

Hi, I have a big Megablocs truck full of Megablocs that DS hasn't used for about the last 2.5 years if you want it. Would be a good pressie for a child of about 1.

I live about 30 mins south of Ipswich but I am coming up to there on Monday for a hospital appointment. (I used to be Boe and after that Twinkie - I am not a stalker I promise) is DSs birthday on Tuesday and would clear some space in the toy room).

yanbu

fab idea

don't be afraid to buy secoindhand either - if what Evenstar hasd doesn't suit, try www.usednappies.co.uk

I wouldn't bother wrapping them as a gift, but when dd was 10m I bought some nappies from BooCoo and when they arrived she had a wonderful time ripping open the parcel and flinging them around...

YANBU! - I think a baby that young can have fun playing with plastic tubs/cardboard boxes etc, so doesn't need all singing all dancing toys. And reusable nappies are fab! GO for it, then join the other mums of cloth bummed babies on our chat thread. Great stuff!

Ooh and actually you've inspired me! I'vebeen eyeing up some really gorgeous nappies, but can't justify buying them when I already have enough. Will Christmas excuse placate DP enough? Hmm...

YANBU - when DS was 6 months I wrapped up a packet of baby biscuits, a banana, some pyjamas, etc.

weebump · 14/11/2008 12:28

YANBU at all! The little things you've bought already are perfect. Anything more expensive will be wasted on a one year old, as they're often as delighted with something as simple as a plastic bottle with something rattling around inside it (my lo's favourite toy at the moment). My daughter's 1 a couple of weeks before Xmas, and I know she'll get loads of presents from friends and family, so the most she's going to get from us is a ball for birthday, and blocks for xmas. That's it. She'll probably get too overwhelmed if she's given too much, and it will all big ignored for the wrapping paper anyway.

Go ahead and buy those nappies.

I think you've got plenty of stuff already - and would even suggest you do something similar for his birthday as well.
