To expect a family member who collected money when I did Race for Life should have given it to me by now?

Race for Life was back in June, Mum's partner said he would ask staff at his work to sponsor me - great, I said. Now because he doesn't come across some of the members of staff on a regular basis, as they work all over the South East, he hasn't collected in the full amount yet. He only sees some people once a year!!

I have asked him numerous times to just hand over what he has collected and forget about the other staff members, but still no money.

to me, this was just a brownie-point-scoring exercise on his part, he even got me to do a thank you letter to stick up in the staff room.

I know how you feel

My sponsored event cost me (personally) £60 from unpaid sponsors.

I raised £300 and about 15 people never paid me.

This is exactly why I just do the race and don't ask around for sponsors, I just give a donation instead.

pamelat, I had exactly the same experience and I do not anymore ask people to fill a sheet of donation but encourage them to pay through RFL website. If there was no possibility to get sponsored via web I just would not run anymore as I feel the registration for both DD and me is quite dear enough without paying all sponsors promises as well. Shame that situations like this might discurage people from doing anything for charity though.

thankfully quite a few people donated on-line, I'll be doing the race again but may do what you do, MuthaHubbard.
