to think that if the dimwit who delivered my shopping had spent more time

making sure that he gave me the right bag and less time telling my DS that children should not answer the door, I might have the balsamico vinegar and herbs that I need for tonights dinner with a friend INSTEAD OF BLOODY BABY FOOD

Phew, glad I got that off my chest.

Do you think my friend would like her salad with vanille mush?

Mmm, vanille mush and salad is the dish a la mode doncha know.

MmeLindt · 12/11/2008 17:32

I will take your word for it. I wonder if I could use the normal balsamic vinegar. I had ordered white balsamic.

Am I the only one who lets her DC go to the door? Does anyone else do this?

He has got me thinking now.

How old is ds before I answer your question?

MmeLindt · 12/11/2008 17:44

He is 4yo

Oh, God, I am going to get flamed for this amn't I? Why did I not keep my big mouth shut

No flaming from me MmeLindt. I would not have let my dd answer the door, but that is my own personal viewpoint.

Everyone has different boundaries.

MmeLindt · 12/11/2008 17:48

We live in a very rural area so I do let the DCs have a lot of freedom.

Still better than the delivery I had - someone put a bottle of fabric softener in with the fersh fruit and veg. The lid had fallen off.

We also got one bag meant for someone else. I did point this out the the driver but he was insistent that this was our bag as it was the last one. I made him take it back - it was full of meat (not much use to us in those days). I almost felt sorry for the carnivore that got our bag of yoghurt, tofu and skimmed milk.

dd1 is 4 and answers door but 99% of the time I can either
a) see the door whilst she answers it
b) know who it is knocking (can see reflection in the window or if I am upstairs I look out of window and let her know she can answer it
c) If she tells me its the postman (they often have a chat through the letterbox about who is it and we have the same postie every day) then shes allowed to answer it

MmeLindt · 12/11/2008 18:02

lol Geordiemum.

I did wonder when I took the vanille mush out, but as we had ordered fruit mush (for my 6yo DD as she loves it) I thought that they had subsituted something that was not available. It wasn't till I saw the cartons of Nestle baby milk that I realised they had the wrong house.

I do hope the person who has my balsamico is not dependant on the delivery for her baby milk.

I let mine go to the door but our house is tiny weeny so I'm never far behind. And fair play to any baddies prepared to take on the prospect of my three in full door-opening rampage.

MmeLindt · 12/11/2008 18:07

Tbh, after today, I might be tempted to let someone take him, he has been an absolute nightmare. I think I have put my neighbour off having kids after taking her shopping with us
