DS going without dummy branded cruel by my Mum!

My DS is nearly 4 months old and we are trying to wean him off his dummy as it is now disturbing his sleep during the day when he loses it. We have gone cold turkey for nearly 2 days now and whilst its been hard and myself and DH have doubted whether we are doing right thing he seems to be getting better at settling himself now.
I have just had a phone conversation with my Mum and I told her proudly how we had gone 2 days without dummy but its been hard and told her why we are doing it. She just proceeded to tell me how he's just a baby and how mean I am. I think that is out of order and I told her that isn't what I need to hear right now. Everything I seem to tell her I am doing or everytime he is a bit whingy when I am around her she makes some quip about how mean Mummy is . It's starting to make me not want to tell her stuff or even spend any time with her, AIBU?

We weaned dd off the dummy at 16 wks. Best thing we ever did. It took 3 days. 4 days later, she started sleeping through with a dreamfeed.

My mum told the same thing. I ignored her. Do the same.

Thanks everyone. Pudding and Noonki good advice. Its nearly been three days and he is getting better with no dummy and has settled himself a few times now (tears a couple of times ). I think we are doing the best thing but you always doubt yourself enough without having the one person who should support you telling you that your evil.

My two never had dummies but ds1 had a blankie thing that we had to get rid of because he had sucked it bald/frayed and we were worried about him swallowing bits.
First night was hell, no one got any sleep. 2nd night not much better. by 4th night he was just unsettled and would look for it if he woke up but would settle back down. Took about a week before he managed a good nights sleep without it.
