to not want my dodgy family from being my 'friend' on Facebook? Can't they have a vetting policy or something? (I need to let this out. Sorry)

First it was cousins I've not seen for years (as in 20 years!), then my brothers, then an aunt, then dodgy chav cousins who send messages lke tis evry hur and now my bloody mother. I didn't want to upset her, she can get very demanding and I moved away from home partly to get away from her. I feel really pissed off that she's on it and is now able to read what I've been doing and my messages from friends etc. She was never nice to me when I was a child, I have alot of memories of her shouting at me and hitting me across the face.

I am really pissed off at the moment, please talk some sense into me. I just want to SCREAM!!!

I had to deactivate my facebook account because a sister me and my 2 other sisters have not spoken to for 7 years tried to contact me through it.

This sister had plenty of opportunity to contact my elder sister (she has not moved house, changed telephone no. etc). But she has chosen to contact me through this medium. I find it a little unsettling.

Ha..the terror of Facebook. If you don't want dodgy people getting in touch, have an extremely privately set profile Then no-one can search and see you publicly, or look at your photo's, keep a very tight ship.
Otherwise, the only advice to give you would not to be on Facebook at all.
Comes with the territory.

Facebook is like MN, for everyone.

I bloody hate it (FB, not MN). Just don't use FB, fgs you can't all be 15

There is a total privacy setting which means that no one can see you unless you are thier friend. Even if they search for you or youhave mutual friends you won't show up, so you can tell delete people and tell them that you have left facebook and they have no way of knowing otherwise.
