to be envious of DH's ability to watch TV in peace...

...because the minute I sit down to drink a cup of tea / watch TV / read the paper or whatever DD comes running over and wants to sit on my knee and play with me.

When I'm making dinner she follows me into the kitchen and wants me to talk to her / dance with her etc.

When I go to the loo she follows me....well you get the picture.

DH however, can happily sit and read the paper and watch TV in peace - DD plays with her toys on her own and never bothers him.

Why is this? It's not fair!!!!

I second your "it's not fair"!

TheArmadillo · 08/11/2008 19:16

oh it's not fair here either

I thought I was the only one this happened to.

StinkyBumBum · 08/11/2008 19:22

agh, me too - I do find it cute though, that she loves me so much she can't bear to apart from me! It's nice to be loved unconditionally . My DH does the same, and every time I get up, loo/kitchen etc., he says go and ask mummy, ask mummy to do it - so I guess she thinks it is normal.

ARGH.
After a whole day of being followed and pestered I start to get really annoyed with DH.
I asked him to play with DD for a bit so I could cook dinner and I shut the kitchen door. But DD didn't want to play - she just sat outside thekitchen crying and hitting the door.
ARGH again.

you'll miss their little mini shadows when they all growed up!

Opposite way round in my house.

Probably because you are much more fabulous I often feel like I have some (not so) mini stalkers and I wonder why they are more interested in hanging around the kitchen watching me do dull things when they could be playing with something far more interesting!

FrayedKnot · 08/11/2008 20:40

It can change!

We went on holiday when DS was 14 months and DH managed to read an entire 3 inch thick tome from cover to cover. I barely flicked through a magazine.

But now, DS is desperate for DH to play with him, and not interested in me as I potter around cooking and folding laundry.

It has taken over 3 years to get to this point, mind you

tiredsville · 08/11/2008 21:45

I get the opposite happening. My DS loves irritating, tormenting DH, but for me it's pure love and cuddles. Maybe because he knows not to mess with mum.
