Oh it's crap isn;t it?

Every time I went into Natwest or rang them for years I was subjected to the 'can we offer you a personal review' stuff, I asked for a note to be put on and still they did it.

I think they might have had enough complaints now as they seem to ask less.

Banking staff now have quotas imposed on them to sell pensions, mortgages etc.

They don't want to do it.

We don't want them to do it.

The big bosses are just wanting more business.

YANBU.

That makes sense. It was always this 'have you considered upgrading to our chargeable account with loads of privileges you will never ever use' type thing, and yes, I had read the leaflet and no, I don't go on holiday and no I don't want domestic appliance discounts if I spend over 3.000 quid on a fridge.

thankyou all the same

I knew this was going to be at Halifax before I opened the thread!

It's annoying but the staff are told to do it.

jennieflower · 08/11/2008 15:55

Clearly YANBU, whilst I was out shopping yesterday I had 4 calls to my mobile, which I ignored because the number had been witheld, each time it was the personal banker at Lloyds TSB and each time she left a message to call back.

When I got home, there were a further 3 messages from the same woman on the home phone . This really irritates me, I'm not going to call back and be subjected to the hard sell but there's a niggling little worry in the back of my head that my cash card might have been cloned or something so now I'm going to be worrying all weekend

ruddynorah · 08/11/2008 15:56

pay your cheque in at the pay in box. no need to speak to staff ever.

puppydavies · 08/11/2008 15:57

funny that, i thought it would be halifax too. i have a relative works for them - they all hate it, have impossible targets imposed, half the staff are off sick with stress. it sucks but please don't take out your frustrations on the counter staff cos it makes their lives much more of a misery than it makes yours

I had a lovely call from Halifax a couple of days ago.

I asked what she wanted and she said 'It's a sales call about insurance', I told her I was fine for insurance, thank you and her answer was 'ok, thanks, bye'.

I was gobsmacked.
It was a pleasant sales call. I wish they were all like that but I do worry whether the nice girl got penalised over that.

Last time I went into building society (not halifax) they spend more time trying to sell me stuff than do what I had gone in there for.

And this was the BS that took 5 years! to change the address on my accounts
