Ok i have just got back from journey from hell....

I was pulling onto a roundabout just having come off motorway.
The car behind me started tooting horn and revving engine- I assume since it was taking me some time to find a gap in order to get onto the roundabout.

Once on the roundabout I came off the first exit, so did this driver who then immediately took over and once in front of me flipped a finger etc.

But then (another car had taken over and pulled in between us by then) he pulled in suddenly onto the side of the road. I just new something wasn?t right so I immedialtly pulled din and put my hazards on. There we sat- he was at least 20 meters ahead. After a minute he carried on driving.

I thought that was it however after driving for another 100m I passed a petrol station only to see him sitting at the exit snarling ? he immediately pulled out behind me ? took over, pulled in front and took off his seatbelt.

I was so scared- the fact he had stopped again at the garage and looked so damm scary. Anyway I just panicked and called 999. but then thought they wouldn?t get to me that quick so I just threw the phone down and did a u turn and drove the other way. I saw in my rear view mirror he got back in his car.

Well I then talked to 999 who said it was not an emergency now and gave me anoher number to call- I called this number and they said that they wouldn?t log it and that I could go to my local police station and make a statement but he thought the crown prosecution service would not press charges and nothing would come of this statement etc.

I know that the garage would have an image of him driving in and straight out. I think this guy is a loose canon to behave elike this just because I was a little slow to get onto the roundabout. I did panic since I had my boy in the back seat but I think most people would react like me ????.soooo I think I should make a statement. My dh thinks leave it ?..what do you think?

Sometimes the police CAN do something, even if it's just your word against theirs. I complained a few months ago about a dangerous driver - she was driving inches from my back bumper at over 70mph, while on her mobile in one hand, and gesturing as she talked with the other hand!! - wasn't even holding the steering wheel at all, only resting her wrist on it. Very scary when I had DS in the car! I got out the way as soon as possible, she sped off extremely fast (so, speeding too...) and I memorised her numberplate. Phoned the police when I got home because I was so furious, but not really expecting much response. But they actually came round later, took all the details and traced the car. Later they got back to me and told me they had found out it was a fleet car. So although they couldn't charge the driver, they contacted her company about it and I think put the frighteners on her a bit, not to mention she probably got grief from work about it. So, although she didn't get charged at least she might think twice next time...

i have a dis-used police badge that i carry ....my husband says i am like phoebe from friends when she found a police badge. i have only flashed it once - scared i get done!

Be careful pretending to use badges - you could get done for impersonating a police officer. (Unlikely but possible).

Glad the police have dealt with this for you vis.

You had your child in the car and you pulled over? Why?!!

LaVie · 08/11/2008 21:58

Sorry, you've already answered that.

i know...my soon to be ex husband is in the police. i just feel better having it. i think gordon b should give people jobs as 'road patrol'...for when the police don't see or can't get there in time.
the police always get a hard time...some deserved but honestly, how can they keep criminal's in check and patrol fat pets - where do you draw the line?
