...to want to throw out every single sock we own and just buy a dozen identical pairs of black socks??

I am getting seriously pissed off with sorting out all the odd socks that we own, no matter what I do, I always end up with odd ones and mis-matched pairs

I admit it's not environmentally friendly but would it be totally insane of me to throw every damn sock out and go out and buy a load of identical new socks.

I'd probably end up with an odd number of socks again but at least any two could make a pair!!!

I really should be doing something more exciting on a Friday night than worrying about socks shouldn't I

I was just watching Johnny Vegas and he said the same thing
He was really excited because he has liberated himself from the sock monster

Why did I not think this? It's brilliant. I spend hours matching up socks according to length and amount of greyness. Will do it tomorrow.

Wear boots, they hide your shame!

fourlittlefeet · 07/11/2008 21:55

i've stopped using a laundry basket and everyone puts their dirty stuff straight in there. had very few odd socks since...

Why don't you get one of those bags you can get from kleeneze, put all your socks together in there and them put them in the wash. I got one of those bra bags to try and protect my bras but they won't fit in cos my bangers are too big

jollydiane · 07/11/2008 21:59

Have a 'sock exchange' if there are not matched up they are binned in our house. Life is too short.

cupsoftea · 07/11/2008 21:59

Bought loads of the same pair & it's fab. I have probably lost socks (like I have with other pairs) but you don't notice as the odd socks do find their way into the washing eventually & you just match them up to those waiting.

alittleteapot · 07/11/2008 22:04

my dp has done this for years. I'd find it a bit depressing to wear the same socks every day but it works for him and means i only have my mismatched pairs to keep track of...

I really didn't expect there to be this amount of interest in socks!!

Think I'll add the great sock re-organisation to the list of jobs for this weekend

I did this a few weeks ago, the 21 pairs from Primark for a few pounds. Black for me, charcoal for DD. I do what cupsoftea does, it's great!

DH is funny about socks and won't wear plain colours. I've stopped making an effort to match up pairs now though and he is starting to see the error of his ways hopping around in the cold every morning
