I've been Xmas/birthday shopping today and bought a few bits for DD. I'm so excited and she loves her new iggle piggle sooo much I'm letting her play with it she is 11 months old so really only have 4 weeks early, hardly anything is it...

Am I a naughty mummy? Should I put it away til her birthday/Xmas or sod it and let her (continue to) play with it now?

She isnt going to get the whole xmas thing anyway I would leave her with it and just give her one less present on xmas day, You are a good mummy for recognising what your child likes.

If she's going to be a year old at xmas, then she doesn't need a mound of presents on the day. The paper and boxes are the best bit anyway at that age.

MadreInglese · 06/11/2008 16:51

what on earth is an iggle piggle?

debzmb62 · 06/11/2008 17:20

Rewrap it on Christmas eve and she'll think it's a whole new toy on Christmas morning.

DD was 1 yesterday and spoiled rotten, hence we are getting her 2 small books for Christmas. She'll be delighted!

MadreInglese · 06/11/2008 17:27

Ah, see I have a 10 yo so am out of touch with anything post-teletubbies

Lowfat · 06/11/2008 17:29

Madre

You cannot be from the UK surely..Google Iggle Piggle (cos I am too slow for links) he is a strnage blue chap from kids TV.

In my house with current 'credit crunch' any giving of presents early is a big NO NO, in fact what were joint presents before are now all DS's as DD has got more - because it seems earlier to get girls stuff.

But as your DD is only 11 months and as you say wont get the whole Christmas thing anyway I dont think YABU - go for it!

Lowfat · 06/11/2008 17:30

Iggle Piggle is everywhere in my town, even if not looking for him Tesco seem to place him in every aisle

Toothbrushes, bath toys, bubblebath, books, magazines, little snacky things, chocolates.....

MadreInglese · 06/11/2008 17:31

Yes, am from the UK

I never know if people are talking about characters or buggies, iggle piggle, zappy quinny, etc

Lowfat · 06/11/2008 17:34

LOL

I am that way with Bill and Ted, I must admit - To me Bill and Ted is an 'Excellent' film!

YANBU - she'll never know either way! We've given our dd her main present already - got her her first bike and had to take her with us to get the fit right etc. She's 3 and we've baby no3 due just a few days before Christmas so we figured letting her practice cycling to nursery from now would be good and frees up her seat in double buggy with no fuss! Bless her she would have waited til Christmas day but her face was just so lit up over it all in the shop we couldn't make her hang on.
