Dh is at the football.
Both dd (2.5) and ds (3mths) have been ill for a few days. Ds worryingly so (been at hospital and back). Both v whingey and fractious. Have barely been able to put either down (yes, not sure how that works either), but miracle of miracles they have both been asleep IN BED/COT for nearly an hour!! Given that one or both is likely to wake up any minute, AIBU to scoff a load of Jaffa cakes rather than sort the (granted, appalling) state of the flat..?

Habbibu · 05/11/2008 20:00

Oh no. I think it may in fact be The Law.

andyrobo237 · 05/11/2008 20:01

Jaffa cakes - there is always time to clean, but jaffaa cakes - yom yum - not for sharing with kiddies!!!

EAT THEM NOW - or the Bill will be round to yours!

liahgen · 05/11/2008 20:01

state of the flat/dining room/kitchen.. (just add your room)

am sitting here as dh out at a works dinner, leaving teens to crap tv, and play fighting in sitting room.

ahh to jaffa cakes

boogeek · 05/11/2008 20:04

It is never unreasonable to ignore the state of the flat or to eat cake of any description.

Libra1975 · 05/11/2008 20:07

You are a better person than me I would have cracked open the wine by now...

retiredgoth1 · 05/11/2008 20:11

YABU

...jaffa cakes are the spawn of satan.

(and please, do not attempt to dunk the hideous cakes...)

Now. Perhaps a packet of custard creams would be more suitable, appropriately marinaded in steaming hot Assam......

andyrobo237 · 05/11/2008 20:12

ARE THEY jaffa cakes or some cheap imitation??

retiredgoth1 · 05/11/2008 20:14

...the brand is immaterial, andyrobo.

They all taste like badger bile.

Well, I think they are lovely but they are Sainsburys own brand ( because they substituted the Basics ones I ordered ).

Have eaten a fair few already. Have also demolished several fairy cakes made with dd today, but the kids are STILL asleep

LOL at the wine, but I am not much of a drinker. Am about to have my second (decaff) cuppa in an hour though, does that count?

Umlellala I think actually that after your recent experiences if would be mad, not just unreasonable, to rush round tidying etc when you should be resting/recuperating. If you are knackered from cleaning, what possible use will you be to your dcs either in the night or early tomorrow?

Enjoy.

Ronaldinhio · 05/11/2008 20:25

yabvu

jaffa cakes gag

clean your flat you slattern

Libra1975 · 05/11/2008 20:31

With 2 DC of that age there isn't really any point tidying as they will only cause the flat to revert to current state within 10 minutes of waking.
Unless there is actually a new species of life growing in the corners you are fine, also tbh it's better for the kids if you don't clean the flat as there immune systems will be strengthened. See, you are actually being a good mother by eating jaffa cakes!!

Aw, thanks! Jaffa cakes all gone now .

I know dh will come home and tell me off for sorting the kitchen, he told me not to do anything before he left...

It doesn't look toooo bad anyway and am not a big cleaner/tidyer*, it's just all the little bits that need doing adds to the stress. Must ignore, and will prob go to bed soon. Past few days have been emotionally and physically exhausting.

Thanks you lot (in true AIBU style am ignoring everyone who disagreed with me )

*I have always liked that immune system argument, dd is hardly ever ill, though ds may turn out to be a sickly, albeit massive, child!!
