AIBU to be annoyed that my colleague gave my child a pringle, jam donut and a whole grape!

I know I'm not - shes 10 months FGS!
Work meeting today, my day off, needed to be there, no childcare so took DD2 with me!
Colleagues all fine and helpful but one (who has 3 DC I might add)....first gave DD2 a salted pringle and looked amazed when I cringed and said she hasnt ever had a crisp as I tried to scoop it out her mouth, she then gave her a bit of sugar coated jam donut and laughed and said dont say thast her first donut and I looked on in shock, but when she tied to pop a whole grape in her mouth I had to say NO she might choke so she broke it in half and popped a large half in her mouth which she then proceeded to almost choke on
At this stage I just took her off her
Now I am far from precious about what she eats she is my NSB after all but come on AIBU!!!!!!
Well she has just had home made stew and a breast feed so hopefully not toooo damaged

I think they should have checked before giving your lo ANY food. PLus - you said you are all GP's?? Shouldn't she know better re whole grapes?! If i were you i'd take a 'snack pack' in next time - and say she can have anything from that to whoever is holding her.

Haribolicious · 05/11/2008 19:28

SORRY! I didn't mean to imply that she was a PFB I was just saying that it annoys me when a lot of MNettrs assume that it is a PFB whenever anyone starts a thread like this.
I agree that this isn't relevant either way tho.

macdoodle · 05/11/2008 19:31

We were a room of GP's at least if she had choked or had a anaphylactic reaction there would have been plenty of help on hand
I DID take a snack pack but obviously feeling her crap was more fun

feeding NOT feeling obviously

I would have been pissed off about the grape - but then I have this whole choking-phobia thing going.

I don't let anybody feed my kids anything without checking with me first - but that is because of food allergies. Did you tell your colleagues not to feed her?

cluelessnchaos · 05/11/2008 19:34

Sorry I think YABU, i would have probably made a joke out of it,

macdoodle · 05/11/2008 19:35

Well no TBH I didnt and I had already given her the crust off my sandwich so maybe she thought it would be ok....really I am not so much annoyed about what she gave her as to the fact that she just gave it without even checking or asking ...and continued to give when I had already expressed some shock after the pringle
But ok I can accept a IABU off now to do some tidying up

I assume she was sitting with your baby on her lap who was lunging for her food so she gave her some

Fishing a pringle out of her mouth is quite funny though

That IS a tad PFB

EmmalinaC · 05/11/2008 19:39

I shudder to think what my colleagues would think was appropriate food for a 10 month old...

I suspect your colleague was only trying to help (and a donut is pretty good entertainment!).

If it happened at a creche I'd be furious but you can't really expect your workmates to be tuned into the dietary requirements of a baby.

But having said that, they should've checked with you first and actually I'd be pretty annoyed about it myself!

morningpaper · 05/11/2008 19:40

PFB is not a description of the child btw, it is a description of the syndrome

morningpaper · 05/11/2008 19:40

At least they didn't take her round the back and share their fags

J2O · 05/11/2008 19:41

YANBU, my 13 month old doesn't even have pringles or full grapes, mind you, she's only got 2 teeth

callmeovercautious · 05/11/2008 19:42

Well I don't think you were BU at all.

People do forget though - like the lovely woman who gave DD peanuts the other week

macdoodle · 05/11/2008 19:43

Well I am now PMSL so ok you lot have calmed me down and shown me the error of my ways
I guess the scooping the pringle out of her mouth was pretty funny, I let her eat the donut FWIW .....my colleague is probably telling her DH what a loon I am
And again.........she is not a PFB

What's a PFB?

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 05/11/2008 21:11

Scrap that, I've just looked it up
